The Witcher Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

Much Ado About... What Exactly? A Hilarious Look Back at The Witcher Season 1 Episode 7
Okay, let's be real. Remember Episode 7 of The Witcher Season 1? It's called "Before a Fall." I barely do.
So much happened. Or maybe it just felt like it. Prepare for my questionable memory.
A Royal Pain in the... Aster
Yennefer is all angsty. Surprise! She's back in Aretuza. Politics are happening.
Must Read
Mages are plotting. Queen Kalys is under attack and she needs Yennefer's help.
Honestly, at this point, I started tuning out. Too much talking. Where are the monsters?
Geralt's Got a Problem (or Three)
Geralt is doing Geralt things. Mainly, complaining about destiny. And fighting.
He's escorting a merchant. That merchant then gets killed.

I think he's also dealing with some PTSD. It's subtle, but it's there. Probably repressed.
Ciri's Still Running
Ciri is... well, she's mostly running. Again.
She finds refuge in a farm. But of course, things can't be simple for our girl.
Do we see Nilfgaardians again? We always see Nilfgaardians. They are like roaches, indestructible.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Here's the thing: This episode felt...meh. Don't @ me.

It was a lot of set-up. Set-up for things we kind of already knew were happening.
Yes, the world-building is important. But give me monster fights, please!
The Dragon's... Fine?
Oh yeah, there's a dragon. Or at least, talk of a dragon.
Everyone wants to hunt it. For glory? For treasure? Because they are bored?

Honestly, by this point, I'm rooting for the dragon. Burn them all, you magnificent beast!
The Love Story That Wasn't (Yet)
Yennefer is having flashbacks. To Geralt. It's angsty.
They have that whole "destined lovers" thing going on. Even if they are currently apart and miserable.
I'm not crying, you're crying! (Okay, maybe I teared up a little. Just a little!)
So, What Was the Point?
Besides setting up the finale? Honestly, I'm not entirely sure.

It felt like a bridge episode. Necessary, but not exactly thrilling.
It might be an unpopular opinion, but I think it's the weakest of the season.
Final Thoughts (and a Plea for More Monsters)
Look, The Witcher is great. But even great shows have their weaker moments.
Episode 7 felt like a lot of talk and not enough action. I miss the monsters!
Hopefully, Season 2 will be monster-filled. Pretty please, Netflix?
