The Wicked Little Princess - Chapter 1

Once Upon a Time...With Attitude
Okay, so, fairytales. We all know the drill. Princesses, castles, and way too many expectations. But what if the princess isn't exactly...princess-y?
Enter The Wicked Little Princess. Specifically, Chapter 1. And already, I’m kind of obsessed.
Forget demure. Forget waiting for a prince. This little lady is clearly on a whole other level.
Must Read
Royal Rebellion Begins!
Chapter 1 kicks off by introducing us to a princess. Shocking, I know. She lives in a castle. Even more shocking!
But hold on. This castle isn't some glamorous, picture-perfect palace. Nope. It's described as being surrounded by "the most boring gardens you could ever imagine." Already, I’m sensing some serious relatable boredom.
I mean, who hasn’t been bored silly by overly manicured lawns? Seriously, where's the fun in that?

Our princess isn't given a name in the first chapter. Which, honestly, I kind of love. It gives her this mysterious, slightly rebellious vibe.
She’s just…Princess. The Original Bad Girl in Training.
She's got a problem, though. A big, royal problem. Her parents, the King and Queen, are obsessed with rules.
RULES! Capital letters necessary, because these aren’t your average "don’t run with scissors" rules. These are royal decree-level rules.

Rule-Breaking 101
Apparently, the most important rule is:
"A princess must always be obedient, kind, and never, ever, EVER do anything naughty."
Yeah, good luck with that. I’m pretty sure that's a direct invitation to cause some mischief.
And guess what? Our little princess feels the same way. This is where I started nodding furiously. Finally, a princess who gets it!
She hates rules. She hates boring gardens. Basically, she’s a tiny, tiara-wearing ball of defiance.

The chapter ends with her making a decision. A crucial, life-altering decision (well, maybe not life-altering, but definitely kingdom-altering).
She decides that being a "good" princess is highly overrated. This is not an endorsement for bad behavior, just for realistic characters. And for breaking free from suffocating expectations.
My (Slightly Unpopular) Opinion
Here’s the thing: I’m kind of on the princess’s side. I know, I know. She’s supposed to be wicked. But hear me out.
How many times have we heard the same old fairytale trope? Good girl gets rewarded. Bad girl gets punished. Snooze fest!

I appreciate a princess who questions the status quo. A princess who dares to be…well, herself. Even if that self involves a bit of naughtiness.
Maybe, just maybe, "wicked" is just another word for "independent." Or "creative." Or "has a healthy dislike for boring gardens."
So, bring on the mischief, Princess. I’m ready to see what kind of royal chaos you’re going to unleash. Chapter 1 has me hooked!
And let's be honest, who hasn't felt like breaking a few rules now and then? This princess just has a much bigger platform to do it on.
