The Time Traveler's Wife Season 1 Episode 3

Okay, let's talk The Time Traveler's Wife, specifically episode 3. We're deep into the HBO series now. Things are getting…complicated.
Remember that awkward dinner? The one where future Henry shows up? And past Henry is, well, less charming?
The Age Gap Dance: Still Going Strong
The age difference is still the elephant in the room. A big, time-traveling elephant. I know, I know, it's part of the plot.
Must Read
But watching a twenty-something Clare pine after an older, grumpier Henry? It’s a little…squicky sometimes. Is it just me?
And speaking of pining, is it just me or is the show a little slow-paced? We get it, time travel is hard. But maybe a few more explosions, please?
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Here comes the controversial part. I might actually prefer older Henry. Yeah, I said it.

He's seen some stuff. He's been through the wringer. He's got character, darn it!
Younger Henry is just…whiny. All that "woe is me, I can't control my time jumps" stuff gets old fast. Maybe he should try meditation?
I feel like the series wants us to sympathize with young Henry and his struggles. But honestly, older Henry's stoic resignation is weirdly appealing.

The Side Characters: Where's the Love?
Let's not forget about the side characters! Charisse and Gomez are hilarious. They are definitely a bright spot in all the time-travel angst.
I kind of wish we saw more of them. More witty banter, please! They need their own spin-off, stat.
I’m starting to think that the show needs to give more attention to those supporting characters who doesn’t time travel. Perhaps a romantic story where the time travel does not exist would balance the series.
The Clothes: A Time Capsule of Questionable Fashion
Okay, let’s talk about the fashion. Clare's wardrobe choices are…interesting.

Some of those outfits are straight out of a 90s fever dream. Are we sure this show isn't secretly a fashion critique of the late 20th century?
I get it. It’s supposed to be period appropriate. But still, some of those looks are…oof. Maybe Henry could travel back and give her a few style tips?
The Big Question: Are We Hooked?
Despite my gripes, I’m still watching. The central mystery is intriguing. Will they ever find a way to control Henry's time jumps?

And will Clare ever get tired of waiting around for him to randomly pop into her life? These are the questions that keep me coming back.
So, are you team young Henry or team older Henry? Let me know in the comments! And please, tell me I'm not the only one who secretly loves older Henry's grumpy charm.
Maybe next episode will win me over completely. Or maybe I’ll just spend the whole time wondering where they got those outfits. Only time will tell! Get it? Time will tell!
Anyways, here's to hoping the future episodes bring more exciting plot twists and maybe, just maybe, a few less awkward dinner parties. We shall see what HBO has for us.
