The Site What We Do In The Shadows

Ever watched a nature documentary and wondered what vampires get up to when the cameras aren't rolling? Well, look no further than What We Do In The Shadows, a hilarious mockumentary series!
Forget sparkly creatures and brooding heroes. This is a peek into the mundane, chaotic lives of four vampires sharing a house on Staten Island. Think 'Real World' with more blood and less sunshine.
A House Full of...Issues
Our main trio consists of Nandor the Relentless, a fearsome warrior from the Ottoman Empire (or so he claims); Laszlo Cravensworth, a posh, eccentric noble; and Nadja of Antipaxos, Laszlo’s equally ancient and mischievous wife.
Must Read
Then there's Colin Robinson, the energy vampire. Instead of sucking blood, he drains the life out of people with his incredibly boring conversations and tedious tasks. He's the coworker we all dread.
Living amongst them is Guillermo De la Cruz, Nandor’s long-suffering familiar. He desperately wants to become a vampire himself, a promise Nandor has conveniently forgotten about for, oh, a decade.

The Absurdity of Immortality
The show's genius lies in its ability to find humor in the everyday problems of the undead. They struggle with things we all do: paying rent, navigating social situations, and understanding modern technology.
Imagine trying to order pizza when you can’t go outside in the daylight. Or figuring out how to use a TV remote that’s older than you are. These are the challenges these ancient beings face.

One recurring gag is their complete misunderstanding of human customs. They try (and fail spectacularly) to blend in, leading to some truly ridiculous scenarios. Picture vampires trying to participate in a neighborhood block party. It's not pretty.
Unexpected Warmth
While the humor is front and center, What We Do In The Shadows also has a surprising amount of heart. Beneath the bickering and the bloodlust, there’s a genuine affection between these housemates.
They're a dysfunctional family, bound together by centuries of shared experiences (and the occasional ritual sacrifice). They may annoy each other, but they always have each other's backs.

Guillermo’s story is particularly heartwarming. His unwavering loyalty to Nandor, despite the constant disappointment, is both funny and touching. You can't help but root for him to finally get his vampiric reward.
Guest Stars and the Supernatural World
The show is packed with hilarious cameos from other famous vampires (played by equally famous actors). These gatherings often involve chaotic meetings, awkward parties, and plenty of undead drama.

Beyond vampires, the series explores other supernatural creatures. Werewolves, ghosts, witches – they all exist in this world, and they're all just as hilariously flawed as our main characters.
"BAT!"is a common phrase uttered by Laszlo during his attempts to turn into a bat which are mostly failures.
So, if you're looking for a comedy that's both silly and surprisingly sweet, give What We Do In The Shadows a try. You might just find yourself developing a soft spot for these ridiculously endearing creatures of the night. It's a bloody good time!
