The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency Episode 7

Okay, let's talk The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Specifically, episode 7. It's a cozy show, right? Everyone loves it. But, do they really?
Am I the Only One...?
Am I the only one who found that episode...a tad slow? Don't get me wrong. I adore Mma Ramotswe. She's basically Botswana's answer to Miss Marple, but warmer. This episode felt like we were stuck in first gear.
It involved some missing cattle, if I remember correctly. And a shady businessman. Sounds exciting, right? Maybe in theory.
Must Read
The Case of the Disappearing Enthusiasm
Look, I understand the show is about gentle investigations. But sometimes, I need a little more oomph! A little more excitement. Maybe a car chase? Or a dramatic reveal? I'm just saying.
The charm of the show is undeniable. Precious Ramotswe's wisdom is a comfort. And the Botswanan scenery is gorgeous. But this episode felt like a postcard from a beautiful, but slightly boring, location.

Maybe my expectations were too high. Perhaps I was craving a bit of Sherlock in my Botswana sunshine. Whatever the reason, episode 7 didn't quite hit the mark for me.
The Good Stuff (Because There's Always Good Stuff)
Okay, okay, I'm not a complete hater. Even in a slower episode, there's always something to appreciate. Mma Makutsi's awkwardness is always gold. Her interactions are my favorite.
Seriously, can we get a spin-off featuring just her? "The Further Adventures of Mma Makutsi and Her Very Specific Opinions." I'd watch it.

And the moral of the story was sweet, as always. Honesty is the best policy. Treat your neighbors with respect. Don't steal cattle. You know, the usual life lessons.
The Unpopular Opinion Train
I think that Mma Ramotswe is wonderful. Maybe the charm of the show is more about the vibe than the plot. That might be true.
Still, can we agree that some episodes are better than others? I’m not saying it's a bad show. I still enjoy it. But episode 7 wasn’t my favorite.

It felt like comfort food that was slightly under-seasoned. Needed a pinch more salt. A dash more pepper. Something to spice things up.
Forgive Me, Precious!
Please don't hate me, No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency fans. I still love the show. I still recommend it to everyone who needs a dose of gentle goodness.
It just means there are other episodes I prefer. Maybe I'll re-watch it sometime. Maybe with lower expectations. Maybe with a side of rooibos tea.

But for now, I'm sticking with my slightly controversial opinion. Episode 7? Nice. But not the best. There, I said it.
What about you? What did you think of episode 7? Am I completely alone in my lukewarm feelings? Let me know!
And if you disagree, that's okay too. We can still be friends. Especially if you bring the aforementioned rooibos tea.
