The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones 2 Full Movie

Okay, let's be real. Remember The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones? The movie that promised us a glorious, dark fantasy franchise?
Well, it sort of...didn't.
The "Non-Existent" Sequel
We were all hyped for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones 2! Or, as some might call it, "City of Ashes." Spoiler alert: it never actually happened.
Must Read
But what if it had? Let's imagine for a moment...
Picture this: more runes, more demons, and way more angsty teen drama. Sound familiar?
My Hot Take: It's Okay It Didn't Happen
Here's the thing, and brace yourselves, this might be unpopular. Maybe it's good we never got a full-blown City of Bones 2 movie.
Don't get me wrong. I love a good supernatural saga. But the first movie felt a bit...rushed, didn't it?

The acting was, shall we say, enthusiastic. And the special effects? Let's just say some demons looked like they wandered off a low-budget Halloween set.
The TV Show to the Rescue?
Then came Shadowhunters, the TV show. It was a reboot, a fresh start, a chance to redeem the franchise.
Did it succeed? Well, that's a matter of opinion, isn't it? It had its moments.
The show gave us more time to explore the characters and the world. Plus, the special effects budget seemed a tad bigger!

What Could Have Been in a City of Bones Sequel?
Still, the "what if" lingers. Imagine a City of Bones 2 done right. With a bigger budget, a stronger script, and maybe a few acting lessons?
We could have seen more of Jace Wayland's brooding intensity. More of Clary Fray's discovering her powers.
And, of course, more of that deliciously complicated sibling rivalry. Or is it...something else?
The Unpopular Opinion Strikes Again!
But here's my other unpopular opinion. Maybe the messy first movie and the decent (but not perfect) TV show were enough.

Sometimes, leaving things to the imagination is better. We can create our own perfect City of Ashes in our minds.
Filled with the perfect Shadowhunters, the scariest demons, and the most heart-wrenching romances.
So, while the official The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones 2 movie remains a figment of our collective imagination, I think it's okay. Really.
We got a taste. We speculated. And maybe, just maybe, that's all we needed.

The Final Verdict
Perhaps the curse of the Mortal Instruments movie is that the books are just too good to truly capture on screen.
It would have been nice to have a well done adaptation, however maybe leaving it to be a book series only is okay too.
Sometimes less is more.
What do you think? Am I totally off base? Let me know!
