The Millionaire Detective Balance Unlimited Ep 1

First Impressions: A Shower of Cash (and Maybe Some Mild Discomfort?)
Okay, let's talk about The Millionaire Detective Balance: UNLIMITED, specifically, episode one. Did anyone else feel like they were watching a slightly chaotic, extremely flashy fever dream? I kinda did.
We're introduced to Daisuke Kambe, who is, shall we say, financially gifted. And by gifted, I mean he could probably buy and sell my entire extended family without breaking a sweat.
Enter the Moneybags
Seriously, the guy literally throws money at problems. Criminals? Just offer them more cash! Collapsing building? Pay someone to fix it right now! It's... a strategy. A very expensive strategy.
Must Read
I'll admit, the visuals were stunning. The car chases were intense. But did anyone else think it was a little... much? Like someone turned the "rich people problems" dial up to eleven?
And then there's Haru Kato. Poor Haru. He's the grounded, morally conscious partner stuck with this walking ATM.

Haru's Headache
He's basically the audience surrogate, constantly saying things like, "You can't just buy your way out of everything!" and "There's such a thing as ethical policing!" bless his heart.
Look, I get it. The whole point is the contrast. But sometimes, Daisuke's blatant disregard for, well, everything, felt a little grating. Maybe I'm just jealous. Probably.

Was I the only one who thought the whole self-driving car bit was slightly ridiculous? It had more gadgets than a James Bond movie! And its A.I. seemed suspiciously sassy.
Unpopular Opinion Time?
Here's where I might lose some of you. I wasn't completely sold on the humor. Some jokes landed, sure. But other times, it felt like they were trying too hard.

The episode definitely had style. No denying that. But style over substance? Possibly. The plot felt secondary to the sheer spectacle of Daisuke's wealth. It was like watching a fireworks display that occasionally solved crimes.
Don't get me wrong, I’m not saying it was terrible. It was entertaining, in a brain-melting kind of way. But the constant barrage of money, gadgets, and Daisuke's smug face? It was a lot to take in.

I'm still curious enough to see where the series goes. I want to see if they can develop Haru's character more and give him something more to do than just be exasperated. I also want to know more about Daisuke's backstory. There's clearly something going on there.
Final Verdict (For Now)
So, episode one? A mixed bag. Visually stunning, potentially problematic, and definitely unforgettable. Will I keep watching? Probably. I'm a sucker for a good cop drama... even if that cop is disgustingly rich.
Maybe I’ll just keep a running tally of how much money Daisuke spends each episode. It’ll be a fun little game to play while I try to ignore my own crippling student loan debt.
