The Last Kingdom Season 5 Episode 10

The End of an Era (And a Few Hilarious Moments): Last Kingdom Season 5 Finale
So, The Last Kingdom is over, and what a ride it was! Season 5, episode 10 wrapped things up in a way that was both satisfying and, well, a little bit bonkers at times.
Let's be honest, we all knew Uhtred was going to end up reclaiming Bebbanburg. The burning question was, how much crazy stuff would happen along the way?
The Siege of Bebbanburg: Not Your Average Castle Visit
The siege of Bebbanburg was a chaotic mess, and that's putting it mildly. Forget carefully planned military maneuvers; this was more like a Viking-themed free-for-all.
Must Read
I mean, did anyone else chuckle when Uhtred basically tricked his uncle into opening the gates? It was less "master strategist" and more "lucky con man."
And then there's Wihtgar, Uhtred’s cousin. Talk about family drama! His villainous tendencies are a constant challenge for Uhtred in season five. He adds tension and proves that old grievances die hard.
Speaking of crazy, let's not forget about Father Beocca's unfortunate demise.

It was a truly heartbreaking moment, especially since he died saving Uhtred. He was always the voice of reason (and a bit of comic relief) amidst all the sword fights and political intrigue.
Athelstan's Big Decision: King or Killer?
Athelstan’s character arc was a rollercoaster this season, wasn't it? He grappled with his identity and duty, and at one point, looked set to follow a dark path.
Remember when he almost executed Uhtred? That was a close call!

Thankfully, he pulled himself back from the brink. The young king finally understood that true strength lies in justice and compassion, not brutality. Good for him!
Æthelhelm's Desperate Measures: Villainy Gone Wrong
Æthelhelm, oh Æthelhelm. What a deliciously evil character! He was always plotting and scheming, even when it was ridiculously obvious that his plans would fail.
His final act of desperation was both pathetic and darkly amusing. You almost had to feel sorry for the guy, in a "watching-a-cartoon-villain-get-foiled" kind of way.

The Bonds of Brotherhood: Uhtred and his Crew
Through all the battles and betrayals, the core of The Last Kingdom remained the relationships between the characters. Uhtred's bond with Finan, Sihtric, and Hild was stronger than ever.
Their loyalty and camaraderie provided some much-needed warmth amidst the grim realities of the era. It was heartwarming to see them fighting side-by-side until the very end.
And let's not forget Brida! Talk about a complicated relationship. Brida and Uhtred’s history is complex. Her presence is a constant reminder of his divided loyalties and past.

The Ending: A Peaceful (ish) Resolution
The finale gave us a glimpse of what could be a relatively peaceful future for England. Uhtred finally achieved his goal, but more importantly, he helped create a united kingdom.
Sure, there were still hints of future conflicts (because let's face it, peace never lasts long in these stories). But overall, it was a hopeful ending, filled with satisfying conclusions for many characters.
So, raise a horn of ale to The Last Kingdom! It was a wild, unpredictable, and often hilarious ride through a fascinating period of history. And we wouldn't have had it any other way.
