The Great Season 1 Episode 1 Full Episode

Okay, Let's Talk About The Great, Episode 1
So, The Great started with a bang, right? Catherine arriving in Russia, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. But did it totally blow everyone's mind? I have some thoughts.
Don't get me wrong, Elle Fanning is phenomenal. Her Catherine is instantly likable, despite her naive expectations.
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Here it comes: maybe the pilot episode wasn't the absolute best of the entire series. Gasp!
Must Read
I know, I know. Treason! But hear me out.
The setup is crucial, of course. We need to understand Catherine's dreams and Peter's… Peter-ness.
But the humor, while present, felt a little less sharp than later episodes. Just a tiny bit.
Peter: The Gift That Keeps On Giving (Awkwardness)
Speaking of Peter, Nicholas Hoult is incredible. He portrays the childish, tyrannical ruler with such glee.

The scene where he presents Catherine with the… well, you know… the bear? Peak Peter.
It's both hilarious and deeply unsettling. Just like the entire show, really.
However, in the pilot, the Peter-Catherine dynamic felt a tad predictable. He's awful, she's horrified, rinse and repeat.
Subtlety? What Subtlety?
The show doesn't exactly sneak its message across. It's more like a sledgehammer of historical satire.
That's part of its charm! But sometimes, in the first episode, the humor felt a bit…on the nose.

Like, we get it. Russia is backward. Peter is a buffoon. Catherine is an idealist.
The Costumes, Though!
Let's pause to appreciate the costumes. Absolutely stunning!
Seriously, those dresses and wigs deserve their own spin-off. They perfectly capture the lavish absurdity of the era.
Even Peter's questionable fashion choices are somehow magnificent. Bravo to the costume department!
Growing Pains (or Plotting Pains?)
Maybe the first episode suffered from "pilot-itis." It had to establish everything, which can be clunky.

The subsequent episodes really let the characters breathe and the plot thicken. That's when the show really took off, right?
We started to see those truly absurd, brilliant, and heartbreaking moments of season 1.
So, Am I Saying It's Bad?
Absolutely not! It's still The Great, after all.
It’s funny, clever, and features some seriously stellar acting, especially from Elle Fanning.
But maybe, just maybe, it's not the pinnacle of the series. Is that so wrong to say?

Think of it as the warm-up act. It gets you ready for the main show.
And the main show? Oh, it's glorious. Huzzah!
Final Verdict (Probably Controversial)
The Great Season 1, Episode 1: Good start, but the greatness is yet to come. Don't @ me!
Okay, you can @ me. I'm ready for the debate.
What do you think? Was the first episode a masterpiece, or just a stepping stone to something even better?
