Everyone always raves about the big emotional moments. Like, cue the waterworks, right? But, let's be honest, sometimes it feels a little… forced?

The Feels Train: Derailing or On Track?

Don't get me wrong. I love a good cry as much as the next person. And The Good Place is definitely capable of yanking those heartstrings.

But did anyone else feel like the constant parade of goodbyes got a little repetitive? Like, we get it. People are growing. They're evolving. They're saying goodbye. Again.

It's like they had a checklist. Sad music? Check. Slow-motion hugs? Check. Eleanor saying something wise and poignant? Triple check!

Here's where I might lose some of you. I think the humor in this episode was seriously underrated. I mean, c'mon, it's The Good Place! We need the jokes!

I appreciated the moments of levity. Like, Chidi trying to navigate his feelings with a whiteboard? Classic! Or Jason being… well, Jason. Always a guaranteed laugh.

Maybe I'm just a terrible person who prefers chuckles over sobbing. But I think a good balance is key. And this episode leaned a little too heavily into the sadness.

And the funeral itself! It was supposed to be this huge, emotional send-off. But did it really pack the punch it was aiming for?

I found myself more entertained by the smaller moments. The interactions between Eleanor and Michael. Tahani's awkward attempts at comfort. Those were the gems!

Is This Heaven? Or Just a Really Long Goodbye?

Look, I'm not saying the episode was bad. It's The Good Place. It's inherently good. Even the "meh" episodes are better than most TV out there.

But did it live up to the hype? For me, not entirely. It felt like it was trying too hard to be emotional and profound.

Maybe it's because the show had set such a high bar. Season 1 was lightning in a bottle. And some of the later episodes were just as brilliant.

So when an episode doesn't quite reach that level, it's hard not to feel a little disappointed.

Ultimately, "The Funeral to End All Funerals" is a solid episode of a fantastic show. But is it one of the best? I'm not so sure.
