The Elder Sister Like One Vol 1

Is The Elder Sister Like One Vol. 1 Secretly Hilarious? (An Unpopular Opinion)
Okay, hear me out. We all know those romance stories. The ones with the shy guy and the dazzling girl. But what if... it's secretly a comedy?
I'm talking about The Elder Sister Like One Vol. 1. Yes, the one with the supposedly "perfect" older sister.
The "Perfect" Façade
Let's be honest. Is anyone really that perfect? Lisianthus, the titular sister, is presented as this flawless being. She's beautiful, kind, and intelligent.
Must Read
But come on! Doesn't that scream "something's gotta give"? It's like watching a swan. Graceful on the surface, paddling like crazy underneath.
I suspect there's some serious sibling rivalry brewing between her and younger sister Ruri. Or at least, she seems to be secretly enjoying watching Ruri's reactions.
Ruri: The Relatable One
Speaking of Ruri, she's a gem. A totally normal girl surrounded by... well, drama.

She's got her own life, her friends, her (completely justified) exasperation with her sister. She is someone you want to befriend.
And that's where the humor kicks in. Watching her navigate the sheer absurdity of her family life is oddly satisfying.
The Mysterious Kazuma
Then there's Kazuma. The guy every girl wants to get to know.
He seems nice enough. A little clueless, maybe. But ultimately a good guy, that's why Lisianthus is interested in him.

He's also completely oblivious to the chaos swirling around him. Which, again, is comedy gold.
The Unintentional Comedy?
Maybe it's just me. But I found myself chuckling throughout the entire volume. The situations are just ripe for comedic interpretation.
The over-the-top "perfection" of Lisianthus. Ruri's eye-rolling reactions. Kazuma's blissful ignorance.
It's a recipe for disaster, in the best way possible. It also makes the story very lighthearted.

My (Potentially Wrong) Conclusion
So, here's my controversial opinion. The Elder Sister Like One Vol. 1 isn't just a romance. It's a sneaky comedy masquerading as one.
It may not be intentional, but I choose to believe it is. The characters are so exaggerated, the situations so absurd.
It's hard not to laugh. So, give it a read. And tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this!
You can also see all the easter eggs that is hidden in the story. So many foreshadowing that can be interpreted in many different ways.

A Second Opinion
Here's a second opinion, maybe the story is actually very dark, and all of the smiling faces are only to hide all the suffering.
What if Lisianthus is actually jealous of Ruri for being normal? And what if Kazuma is not as oblivious as he looks like?
The story can be a metaphor for something bigger, something darker.
Or maybe it is just a lighthearted romantic comedy?
