Okay, let's be honest. We all watched The Conjuring 3, right? And yes, many of us probably needed those English subtitles blasting. Horror movies and mumbling? A classic combo!

I have a confession. I wasn't blown away. Sue me. But I feel like I'm not alone here.

The Devil Made Me Do It...Watch It, That Is

The real case? Super creepy. A guy blaming the devil for murder? Textbook Conjuring material. But somehow, the movie just... missed the mark.

Maybe it's the shift in focus. Less haunted house, more demonic possession courtroom drama? I get it, trying new things! But did it really work?

Don't get me wrong, Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are always fantastic as the Warrens. Their chemistry is undeniable. They could probably read a phone book and make it compelling.

Let's talk about those subtitles again. Seriously, between the low lighting and the demon voices, those little white words were my lifeline. Thank you, English subtitles, for making me understand half of the movie.

I mean, was anyone really understanding what that priest was saying without them? Probably not. Shoutout to my fellow hearing-impaired horror fans! Or just anyone who appreciates clarity.

Did anyone else think the demon designs were a little...eh? Sometimes less is more, you know? Remember the creepy nun from The Conjuring 2? That was terrifying.

Unpopular Opinion Time: It Wasn't That Scary

Here it is, my dirty little secret: I wasn't scared. Not even a little bit. Okay, maybe a tiny jump scare or two. But nothing that kept me up at night.

Am I desensitized? Probably. Have I seen too many horror movies? Definitely. But compare it to the original Conjuring… no contest.

The first Conjuring movie was pure, distilled nightmare fuel. This felt... more like a police procedural with a supernatural twist. Just saying.

So, What Did We Learn?

The Conjuring 3 wasn't terrible. It just wasn't amazing. It was… okay. And "okay" isn't what I expect from the Conjuring universe.

Maybe my expectations were too high. Maybe I'm just being a grumpy old horror fan. Maybe I just needed more subtitles.

But I still appreciate The Conjuring 3 for what it is: another chapter in the Warrens' saga. And a reminder to always turn on subtitles when watching horror movies. You're welcome.
