The Case Study Of Vanitas Volume 4

Okay, let’s talk Vanitas no Carte Volume 4. Specifically, the stuff that had me raising an eyebrow… or two.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore this series. The art is gorgeous. The characters are fascinating. But even the best stories have moments that are…questionable.
The Beast of Gevaudan: A Little Bit Too Much?
The whole Beast of Gevaudan arc was interesting. But did it feel a tad… rushed? Maybe it's just me.
Must Read
I wanted more backstory on Jeanne. Like, give me the juicy details! I'm greedy, I admit it.
Jean-Jacques's Antics: Adorable or Annoying?
Then there's Jean-Jacques. Bless his cotton socks. His over-the-top devotion to Jeanne is either incredibly cute or utterly grating.
I'm leaning towards annoying, but only slightly! Don't @ me.
Honestly, his behavior sometimes feels like it steps into creepy territory. I keep hoping he learns to manage his feelings properly.

Domi's Dilemma: Sidelined Again?
Speaking of characters, is it just me, or is Dominique de Sade constantly getting the short end of the stick?
She's awesome. Powerful. And yet, she often feels like she's playing second fiddle. I love Domi, and she deserves more screen time.
I would like to see more of her background. I know it would make a compelling narrative.
Vanitas and Noé: Will They Ever Just… Confess?
Oh, the tension between Vanitas and Noé. You could cut it with a knife. A very sharp, silver knife.
They spend half the volume bickering and the other half saving each other's lives. It's exhausting, but also…endearing. Is it too much to ask for a little progress?

The writers should not tease us so much, It keeps the readers on their toes, but there should be progress.
The Curse-Bearers: Still Confused
The whole curse-bearer situation is still murky. Are they victims? Are they monsters? Both?
I appreciate the moral ambiguity. But I also appreciate clarity. A little more exposition, please!
I have so many questions that I'm looking forward to seeing how the mysteries unfold. They need to explain the plot holes.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Okay, here's where I get controversial. Are you ready? I thought volume 4, while good, wasn't quite as gripping as the earlier volumes.

I know, I know, blasphemy! But hear me out. It felt like a lot of setup, not as much payoff.
It was still beautiful, and I did enjoy the hints that were dropped. I just think the storyline could be improved.
The pacing felt off. I needed more stakes and some plot twists. I was missing the magic, the urgency.
Still Hooked, Though!
Don't get me wrong. I'm still completely invested in Vanitas no Carte.
I will continue reading and ranting online. Mochizuki Jun's world-building is incredible.

I can't wait to see where the story goes next. Even if it means more Jean-Jacques being…Jean-Jacques.
I know the upcoming volumes will be better. I cannot wait to see the cliffhangers.
And, admit it, you all secretly want Vanitas and Noé to just get together already. Don't deny it!
I will also be here waiting for Dominique to finally get her moment in the spotlight.
So, what were your thoughts on Volume 4? Agree? Disagree? Let's argue (nicely) in the comments!
