Don’t get me wrong. The art is gorgeous. I mean, seriously, early chapters? Chef’s kiss!

TurtleMe, the author, built a fascinating world. Reincarnation, magic, and a cute kid protagonist? What's not to love?

But after a while… did anyone else feel like it started to drag? Like, really drag?

Arthur Leywin's journey hooked me fast. A king reborn as a baby with all his memories? Genius!

Watching him navigate childhood with his past life experience was hilarious. And the magic system? So cool!

Plus, Arthur’s bond with Sylvie? Heartwarming. Admit it, you squealed a little too when they first met.

Then came the academy arc. I started to feel like it became repetitive. Training montages galore!

Suddenly, every new character was either super powerful or super annoying. Where did the charm go?

And the plot twists? Some felt… forced. Like the author was just trying to keep us guessing.

Let's be honest, how many "tragic backstory" characters can one story handle? At some point, it loses its punch.

Each new side character seemed to follow the same formula. Big dreams, tragic past, needs Arthur's help. Rinse and repeat.

I get it, character development is important. But it felt like we were going in circles.

Here’s a theory. Maybe the fact that The Beginning After The End is readily available for free online influences our perception.

Could it be that the "free manga" label lowers our expectations? Making us more forgiving of plot holes or slow pacing?

Think about it. Would we be as patient if we were paying per chapter?

Look, I'm not saying TBATE is bad. Just that maybe, just maybe, we're giving it a little too much credit.

Other free online manga and comics, like many found on Webtoon or on independent creator sites, often offer a breath of fresh air.

Maybe I'm being too harsh. Maybe I just need to reread it with fresh eyes.

Perhaps the later chapters are a vast improvement. I haven't fully given up yet!

But for now, I stand by my slightly unpopular opinion. TBATE is good, but maybe not as good as everyone says.
