Initially, I was hooked! The whole idea of a middle-aged salaryman becoming a slime? Genius! Rimuru Tempest? Adorable and powerful. What's not to love?
The animation is vibrant. The world-building? Pretty darn impressive.
Those first few episodes had me totally invested. I even started considering buying a slime plushie!
The Mid-Series Slump
Then… things started to drag. That’s my unpopular opinion, anyway.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime The Movie: Scarlet Bond | Where
Suddenly, there were endless strategy meetings. And a million different characters with names I could never remember.
Who was that goblin again? And what was his specific contribution to the monster nation's economic stability?
World-Building Overload
Look, I appreciate a well-developed world. I really do.
But sometimes, it felt like I was getting a lecture on monster society instead of enjoying a fun adventure. Too much information!

Give me some action! Give me some epic battles! Less bureaucracy, please.
The Power Creep Problem
Let's be honest, Rimuru got pretty OP (overpowered) pretty quickly. I'm talking game-breaking, world-ending levels of power.

I started missing the underdog slime from episode one. Remember when he struggled to eat herbs?

Am I the Only One?
I know, I know. I'm probably going to get roasted for this.
The Slime fandom is HUGE. And dedicated. And probably sharpening their pitchforks as we speak.
But I can't help but feel like the show peaked early. Or maybe I just have the attention span of a goldfish.
"But the character development!" some might argue. "The intricate plot!" others might cry.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime - Watch on Crunchyroll
I hear you. I really do. But for me, the magic just wasn't there past a certain point. My watch ended early.
Maybe I'll give it another shot someday. Maybe I'll finally understand the appeal.
Until then, I'll just stick to re-watching the first season and dreaming of becoming a cute, overpowered slime myself. Just without all the paperwork.
And maybe, just maybe, my slime dreams will involve a little less monster nation economics.
