That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Book

Okay, let's talk slime. Not the Nickelodeon kind. I mean That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime! (Also known as TenSura) Have you read it? Watched it? Both? Me too.
It's everywhere! And, dare I say it... I have some thoughts. Maybe some slightly unpopular thoughts.
Slime So Popular It's... Questionable?
Don't get me wrong. The premise is great! A salaryman dies. He's reborn as a slime monster. Instant fantasy gold!
Must Read
And Rimuru Tempest? Adorable. I mean, for a blob. Who wouldn't want to absorb skills and build a nation?
But... am I the only one who thinks it gets a little too convenient sometimes?
The Power of Plot Armor (and Predation)
Rimuru just... solves everything. A problem arises? Predation skill! Enemy too strong? Great Sage got you covered!

It's like, where's the struggle? The actual risk? I sometimes feel like he could win any fight with a single gulp.
Don't get me wrong, watching him outsmart the big bad guys is great fun, but after a while, it feels like every situation resolves too easily.
Nation Building... or Nation Overpowering?
Then there's Tempest, the nation Rimuru builds. A haven for monsters! A beacon of hope! And, also, ridiculously powerful.

Again, awesome! But the power creep is real! Every new character is stronger than the last! Before you know it, Tempest could probably take over the whole world.
Anyone else think they might be a little too overpowered? It's like watching a video game character with all the cheat codes turned on.
The Endless Harem... Er, Loyal Followers
Let's not forget the ever-growing cast of characters! Each more devoted to Rimuru than the last. It's like a never-ending parade of undying loyalty.

There's nothing wrong with having friends! But does every single person Rimuru meets need to pledge their eternal allegiance? A little much, isn't it?
I feel like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is the ultimate wish fulfillment. And that's not a bad thing! It's fun, escapist fantasy. But sometimes, I just crave a bit more grit.
In Conclusion: Still Watching, Still Enjoying (Mostly)
Look, I'm still a fan. I still watch the anime. I'll probably buy the next book. Rimuru is just too charming.

But I can't help but feel like TenSura, at times, prioritizes wish fulfillment over compelling storytelling. Maybe that’s what makes it so popular!
So, yeah. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is great. But maybe... just maybe... a little overrated? Don't @ me!
