Strictly Come Dancing Season 18 Episode 18

Okay, folks, let's talk Strictly. Specifically, that final. You know the one. Series 18. The year glitter practically became an essential nutrient.
Remember? 2020. A year we'd all like to forget, except for the sheer joy of Strictly Come Dancing being on our screens.
The Great Glitterball Grab
Bill Bailey! What a legend. He and Oti Mabuse took home the Glitterball. And rightly so! They were fab. But here’s where my potentially controversial opinion comes in.
Must Read
Were they the best dancers technically? Hmmm. Debatable. Did they deserve the win? Absolutely! They brought joy. Sheer, unadulterated joy.
Maisie's Magic (and my Mild Disagreement)
Now, Maisie Smith. Let's be honest, she was incredible. A proper little pocket rocket. Her technique was razor sharp.
But, and this is a big but, did she connect with the audience as much as Bill? I’m not so sure. It felt a bit...polished?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying she wasn't brilliant. She was! I just didn't feel the same warmth. Maybe it's just me.

HRVY's Hip Action (and Humble Pie)
And then there was HRVY. Oh, HRVY. Smooth moves, that lad. He had the energy of a caffeinated squirrel.
I'll admit, I initially underestimated him. I thought he was just the "teen heartthrob" of the series. I was wrong!
He definitely brought it to the dance floor. A genuine contender. I take back every skeptical thought I ever had. (Almost.)
Jamie's Journey (and the Power of Persistence)
Ah, Jamie Laing. The comeback king! He was injured the year before. So he was back for revenge!

He might not have been the most naturally gifted dancer. But he was entertaining! He gave it his all, every single week.
And you've got to admire that. He improved so much. He deserved his spot in the final.
The Oti Factor
Let's talk about Oti Mabuse. A force of nature! Her choreography is always on point. Her enthusiasm is infectious.
She really brought the best out of Bill. Their partnership was so special. It was lovely to watch.

She's just a joy to watch. Her smile could light up Blackpool Tower (metaphorically, of course!).
My Unpopular Opinion: The "Most Improved" Trophy Should Exist
Here's a thought: Strictly needs a "Most Improved" award. Wouldn't that be great? Acknowledging the hard work and dedication of someone like Jamie.
It's not always about being the best dancer from the start. It's about the journey. The progress. The commitment.
Just a thought! Maybe the producers are listening. (Probably not.)

Final Thoughts (and a Little Bit More Glitter)
So, Series 18. A weird time, but a wonderful series. It reminded us that even in the darkest of times, there's always room for a bit of sparkle.
And Bill Bailey proved that you don't have to be a classically trained dancer to win the nation's hearts. You just need to be yourself. And maybe wear a lot of glitter.
What do you think? Did the right person win? Or were you secretly rooting for someone else? Let's discuss! (Politely, please.)
And remember, keep dancing! Even if it's just in your kitchen. With a tea towel on your head. Pretending to be Oti Mabuse. (We've all done it.)
