Why "Booster" Doesn't Quite Kickstart My Chopper

Everyone seems to love Season 4. They say it’s a return to form. But "Booster"? It felt a little… slow. Like SAMCRO was riding in second gear.

Don't get me wrong, I love the grittiness. The biker drama. The sheer chaos that follows Jax Teller and his crew like a bad smell.

But this episode? It felt like filler. A bridge between bigger, better things. Like the writers needed a breather after the prison saga.

The main plot revolved around the home invasions, right? Some tweaker trying to rip off the town's residents. Classic small-town crime.

And SAMCRO gets involved, naturally. Because in Charming, EVERYTHING becomes their problem. I mean, they ARE the law... sort of.

But honestly, the whole thing felt a bit… low stakes. Like, were we really supposed to be gripping our seats about a few stolen TVs?

Even the side plots weren't exactly fireworks. Tara dealing with her pregnancy? Okay, sure. Important. But hardly edge-of-your-seat stuff.

Look, I adore Gemma Teller Morrow. She’s a force of nature. A mama bear you do NOT want to mess with.

But in this episode? Her constant meddling? Her need to be in everyone's business? It was dialed up to eleven. Even for Gemma.

It felt like she was just creating problems for the sake of creating problems. Like she was bored and decided to stir the pot for fun.

And don't even get me started on her interactions with Tara. It's like a passive aggressive war, with baby clothes as ammunition.

"Oh, you’re going to raise the baby vegan? How… interesting."

You know, that kind of stuff.

Okay, it wasn't all bad. The acting was, as always, top-notch. The cast is phenomenal, even when the material isn't.

And there were glimpses of the darkness to come. Hints of the conflicts that would eventually tear SAMCRO apart.

Plus, any episode with Chibs Telford is automatically a little bit better. That man could read the phone book and I'd be riveted.

And the ending? The sense of foreboding? It definitely left you wanting more. Even if the journey to get there was a bit… bumpy.

Look, "Booster" isn't a terrible episode of Sons of Anarchy. It just feels… average. Especially compared to the highs of the rest of the series.

Maybe I'm being too harsh. Maybe I had too high expectations. Maybe I just wanted more explosions and less domestic drama.
