Skeleton Knight In Another World Ep 1

Okay, okay, I admit it. I watched the first episode of Skeleton Knight in Another World. And... I kinda liked it. Don't judge me! I know, I know, it's another isekai.
The story starts with our hero, Arc. He's a gamer, obviously. He wakes up in his game avatar. A skeleton knight. Spooky and convenient.
The Undead Overlord...With a Conscience?
So, Arc is stuck in this new world. He's rocking the full bone daddy look. He immediately gets involved in saving some elves. Classic isekai move.
Must Read
I'm not gonna lie, the opening was pretty standard. But Arc is surprisingly relatable. He's trying to be a good guy, despite being a walking, talking skeleton.
He's basically saying, "I'm a skeleton knight, but I'm still a decent dude!" And you know what? I believe him.
Elf Escapades
The episode revolves around saving these two elf sisters. Their village was attacked. Seems like some evil nobles are behind it. The usual stuff.

Honestly, the elf sisters, Ariane and Chiyome, are adorable. They're grateful, and they're strong. Good waifu material, I guess? (Sorry, had to go there.)
Arc absolutely wrecks shop. He uses his knightly skills. He saves the day. The elves are safe. You can see that one coming.
Unpopular Opinion Time
Here's where I might lose some of you. I think the animation is... fine. It's not mind-blowing, but it's not terrible either. It's just, well, fine.

Look, I know some people were complaining. They said the skeletons looked goofy. Honestly, I kind of liked the goofiness.
Maybe I'm just easily entertained. Maybe I have low standards. But I wasn't expecting Attack on Titan level animation from an isekai about a skeleton.
Why I'm (Secretly) Hooked
Despite its flaws, the first episode had charm. Arc is a likeable protagonist. He's not overpowered. He's trying to figure things out. Which is pretty great!

His inner monologues are hilarious. He's constantly questioning his actions. He's trying to be a hero. Despite having no skin, or organs.
And let's be real, the action scenes were pretty cool. Seeing a skeleton knight beat up bandits? Entertaining.
Will I Watch Episode 2?
So, will I be watching the next episode? Probably. Am I ashamed? A little. Is it a masterpiece? Absolutely not.

But sometimes you just need a simple isekai. One that involves a skeleton dude doing good deeds. And that is what Skeleton Knight in Another World delivered.
I'm not saying it's the best anime ever made. But it's a fun way to spend 20 minutes. Judge me all you want! I have no regrets.
Besides, who doesn't love a good skeleton?
