Seraph Of The End Season 1 Episode 1
Okay, buckle up buttercups, because we're about to dive headfirst into the glorious, chaotic, and utterly addictive world of Seraph of the End! And what better place to start than the very beginning: Episode 1!
A World Gone Bonkers (Vampire Edition!)
Imagine waking up one morning and finding out that a virus has wiped out pretty much everyone over the age of 13. Yikes, talk about a bad hair day! But wait, it gets better (or worse, depending on your perspective): Vampires have taken over. Cue dramatic music!
They're not your sparkly, romantic kind, either. Think more along the lines of powerful, aristocratic bloodsuckers who see humans as, well, livestock. Pretty grim, right? We're talking a serious downgrade from a regular Tuesday.
Must Read
This episode throws us right into the thick of it. We see our protagonist, the ever-so-slightly angsty Yuichiro Hyakuya, and his found family living in an underground vampire city. Think cramped quarters, endless chores, and a whole lot of forced smiles.
The Hyakuya Orphanage: A Family (of Sorts)
This ragtag group of orphans, led by the sweet and optimistic Mikaela, is basically the heart of the show. They're trying to make the best of a terrible situation, clinging to each other like liferafts in a sea of vampire-induced despair. It’s cheesy, it’s heartwarming, and you can’t help but root for them!

They work hard, they share what little they have, and they dream of a world where they can finally escape the clutches of those fanged fiends. You know, the usual kid stuff. Just kidding! This is way more intense than needing to finish your homework!
Yuichiro, though... he's got a serious case of resting grump face. He's fiercely protective of his family, but also carries a burning desire for freedom. He’s basically a powder keg waiting for a spark.

The Escape Plan: Brilliant or Bonkers?
Enter the ill-fated escape plan. Because what's a good first episode without a healthy dose of terrible decisions? Mikaela, bless his optimistic soul, believes he's found a way for them all to escape. Using the blood they have earned serving their vampire masters, he plans to bribe their way to freedom.
This is where things go from “bad” to “oh no, no, no!” Mikaela's plan is about as successful as bringing a knife to a gun fight. I mean, you admire the ambition, but the execution? Let's just say it leaves something to be desired.
Betrayal, bloodshed, and a whole lot of screaming ensue. It's like a vampire-themed horror movie crammed into 20 minutes. The tension is so thick, you could cut it with a stake (pun intended!).

The Aftermath: A Hero is Forged (Sort Of)
The episode ends with a devastating cliffhanger. Everyone is dead, except Yuichiro, who barely manages to escape. Talk about a downer, right? But this is just the beginning of his journey. It sets the stage for his transformation from angsty orphan to vengeance-seeking soldier.
We see Yuichiro vowing revenge against all vampires, fueled by grief and a thirst for justice. He basically goes full Liam Neeson, except instead of rescuing his daughter, he's rescuing humanity (or at least trying to!).

So, Episode 1 of Seraph of the End is a whirlwind of emotions, a crash course in vampire politics, and a masterclass in setting up a compelling storyline. It's dark, it's action-packed, and it leaves you craving more. If you haven't already, dive in! Just be prepared for a wild ride.
Seriously, though, who doesn't love a good vampire-slaying revenge story?
