Sekaiichi Hatsukoi Ova No Love's Like To The First

Okay, Let's Talk Sekaiichi Hatsukoi OVA: A Little Something's Missing?
Confession time! I watched the Sekaiichi Hatsukoi OVA, "No Love's Like To The First." And...well, I have thoughts. Maybe controversial thoughts.
Don't get me wrong. It's cute. It's fluffy. It has all the Usami Akihiko charm you'd expect. But did it really hit the mark?
The Setup: Sweet Nostalgia?
The premise is adorable: a flashback to when Usami and Misaki first met. Young, awkward Misaki crashes with Usami. Hilarity (and blushing) ensues.
Must Read
We get to see Usami's softer side. A side that's usually buried under layers of teasing. It's all very...heartwarming.
And that's precisely where my problem lies. Heartwarming can be a bit...boring, right?
The "Unpopular" Opinion (Brace Yourselves!)
Here it comes: I think the OVA is a little too tame. Hear me out!

Sekaiichi Hatsukoi thrives on the push and pull between Usami's possessiveness. The moments are passionate and a little bit crazy.
This OVA? It's like a PG-rated version of their relationship. It's missing that signature oomph.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for the dramatic. The longing stares and stolen kisses. I enjoy the angst!
Where's the Spark?
The OVA feels...safe. Too safe. It's like they're afraid to show the more complex aspects of Usami's character.

We see him caring for Misaki, yes. But where's the underlying obsession? The subtle hints of darker feelings?
I know it's the beginning of their relationship. But Usami is Usami, even back then! Surely a little bit of his true self would show?
It's Still Cute...But
Look, I'm not saying it's a bad OVA. It's definitely a pleasant watch. The art is beautiful. The voice acting is on point.

But compared to the main series and other OVAs? It falls a little flat for me. It lacks the energy that makes Sekaiichi Hatsukoi so addictive.
It's like eating a cake with all the ingredients. But forgetting the frosting. It's still cake. It just isn't quite as satisfying.
Maybe I'm Just a Grump
Perhaps I'm being overly critical. Maybe I expected too much. It happens!
Maybe some fans prefer this sweeter, gentler portrayal. And that's totally valid. We all have our preferences.

But for me, "No Love's Like To The First" is a sweet treat that could have used a dash more spice. A little extra Usami intensity.
So, am I alone in this? Or does anyone else feel like this OVA missed a beat? Let me know!
At the end of the day, it’s fiction. Let's just enjoy the beautiful world of Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. And maybe re-watch our favorite episodes (again).
