Seasons Of So You Think You Can Dance

Okay, let's talk SYTYCD. We all love it. But some seasons? Let's just say they sparkle a little less than others.

The Golden Era (Seasons 1-4): My Unpopular Opinion

Everyone fawns over these seasons. And yeah, they were good. But were they perfect? I dare to say...no.

Season 1 was adorable. But the dancing? Kinda basic. Don't @ me! I said what I said.

Season 2 had Travis Wall. A legend, obviously. But the ladies this season were...forgettable, sorry!

Season 3 is considered a high point. I get it. But Sabra Johnson's win felt...odd. Like, was she REALLY the best?

Season 4 introduced us to Joshua Allen. He was amazing. But I feel like Katee Shean was ROBBED.

The Middle Child Seasons (5-10): Ups and Downs

These seasons are the awkward teens. Trying to find their identity. Sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing epically.

Season 5 had Jeanine Mason. She was a worthy winner. But this season started the over the top sob stories.

Season 6? I barely remember it. Sorry, anyone from Season 6! You deserve better.

Season 7 tried to be "all stars". Some worked, some didn't. This experiment wasn't bad, but a little bit messy.

Season 8 saw Melanie Moore rise to the top. Deserved winner. But were any of the routines really iconic?

Season 9 I love, Eliana Girard was great. This season gave us Tiffany Maher, she should have won!

Season 10 introduced us to Amy Yakima. Her and Fik-Shun's partnership was magical. But I don't love the whole season.

The Later Years (11-17): Finding Its Feet Again?

The last few seasons are the show trying to reinvent itself. Some swings and misses, for sure.

Season 11 had Ricky Ubeda. Technical brilliance! But it felt like the show was losing some of its heart.

Season 12. Street vs Stage. It was...a choice. Not sure it was the right choice, though.

Season 13 was another weird format. The kids were cute! But it wasn't quite SYTYCD, was it?

Season 14? Did it even happen? Just kidding! (Sort of.)

Season 15 felt like a return to form. But the magic of the earlier seasons? Still missing.

Season 16, Bailey Munoz won. He's great, but a lot of these are getting forgetable!

Season 17, the most recent season. Did not even remotely scratch the itch of seeing amazing dancing. Sad face!

Final Thoughts

Look, I love So You Think You Can Dance. I'll watch it forever. Even the "meh" seasons. I'm just saying... some are definitely more equal than others.
