Season Finale Of What We Do In The Shadows

Okay, let's talk about the What We Do in the Shadows season finale. Did everyone love it? Probably. Am I about to reveal an unpopular opinion? Definitely.
I'm not saying it was bad. The show's always funny. But did it fully deliver on the hype? Mmm, not quite for me.
The Gizmos and Gadgets Were A Bit Much
Don't get me wrong, I love a good vampire gag. But this season felt a little... overloaded with magical objects. Remember the enchanted... everything?
Must Read
The focus shifted away from the core character dynamics. It felt like a frantic scavenger hunt at times. A bit much, right?
Where Was the Heart?
The charm of What We Do in the Shadows has always been in the relationships. Nadja and her doll. Guillermo's longing. The sheer incompetence of Nandor.
This season, the characters seemed secondary to the plot. They reacted to the crazy events instead of driving them. Sad vampire noises.

I missed the simpler times of vampire council meetings. Or just Laszlo being a weirdo scientist. Remember the topiary?
Guillermo's Arc felt…Rushed?
Okay, big one here. Guillermo is a treasure. We all adore Guillermo. His transformation has been brewing for seasons.
But the actual turning? It felt a bit…sudden. Maybe a bit too easy?
It lacked the emotional punch I was expecting. I wanted more angst! More internal conflict! Where was the drama?

Nandor Needed More Screentime
Nandor the Relentless deserves better! His desperate search for love is consistently hilarious. But he felt sidelined in the finale.
His genie storyline had so much potential! It could have been a major emotional through-line. Instead, it was a subplot.
Give us more Nandor! More longing! More desperate attempts at romance that hilariously fail!
Maybe I'm Just Nostalgic
I love the original mockumentary format. Maybe that's why I'm a bit critical of the newer stuff. Less plot, more character.

I miss the early seasons when the humor was more observational. The vampires just trying to navigate everyday life. Comedy gold!
Less ancient curses. More struggling to use Zoom.
Don't Get Me Wrong, It's Still Funny
I'm not saying the season was a complete failure. It had plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. Colin Robinson's evolution was especially great.
And Laszlo will always be a comedic genius. His deadpan delivery never fails to crack me up. His scientific endeavors are endlessly entertaining.

The visual gags were also top-notch. The special effects crew deserves all the awards. The show is beautiful.
The Verdict?
Look, I love What We Do in the Shadows. I'll be watching next season no matter what. But I hope they dial back the crazy a bit.
Give us more character-driven stories. More awkward vampire interactions. More Nandor being hilariously clueless.
And maybe, just maybe, a little less magical gizmos. Let's return to the heart of what made the show great. Less plot, more vampire shenanigans, right?
