Season 9 Of How I Met Your Mother

Okay, let's talk about something controversial. Something that still sparks debate years later.
I'm talking about the final season of How I Met Your Mother. Specifically, Season 9.
Hear Me Out!
I know, I know. A lot of people hate it. It's often considered the worst season. But... maybe, just maybe, it's not that bad?
Must Read
Before you grab your pitchforks, let's consider some things. The whole season takes place during Robin and Barney's wedding weekend.
That's right, one long, crazy, wedding weekend.
The Dragged-Out Wedding
Okay, the pacing is a bit slow. We get it, it's a long weekend. Things happen, and then more things happen.
Did they stretch it out a bit too much? Probably. But think of all the shenanigans!

We got to see the gang reconnect. We got to see Marshall's ridiculously long journey to Farhampton.

New Characters, New Stories
We meet new characters like Cristin Milioti, a wonderful actress. She played the future Mother.
Her performance was charming and genuine. Didn't you just want to root for her and Ted?
Yes, it felt weird not having her around for nine whole seasons. That said, she was wonderful.

Character Development (or Lack Thereof?)
Many complain about the character arcs. The sudden shift in Barney's and Robin's relationship.
The way Ted seems to still be hung up on Robin after all this time.
Fair points, definitely fair. But relationships are complicated, aren't they? Maybe, just maybe, life isn't always neat and tidy.
The Ending
Okay, let's address the elephant in the room: the ending.

The Mother dies, Barney and Robin get divorced, and Ted ends up with Robin again. Wild, right?
It's divisive, to say the least. Some see it as a betrayal of everything the show built up to. Others... well, maybe they see something else.
My Unpopular Opinion
Here it is: I didn't hate it. Was it perfect? Absolutely not. Could it have been better? Probably.
But amidst all the chaos, there were genuinely funny moments. There were heartfelt scenes and reminders of why we loved these characters in the first place.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for a happy ending (or a complicated, bittersweet one). Or maybe I just appreciate the ride, flaws and all.
Perhaps Season 9 is like that one friend you love despite their quirks. You know they're not perfect, but you wouldn't trade them for the world.
So, next time you're thinking about skipping Season 9, maybe give it another shot. You might just find something to enjoy. Or, at the very least, something to passionately disagree with me about!
What do you think? Am I totally off base? Let me know!
