Season 1 Episode 9 Rick And Morty Reference

Season 1 Episode 9 Rick And Morty Reference

Rick and Morty's "Something Ricked This Way Comes": Overrated?

Okay, hear me out. Season 1, Episode 9 of Rick and Morty. The one with the devil and the gym.

Yeah, "Something Ricked This Way Comes." Everyone loves it, right?

I have… questions. Maybe even some unpopular opinions.

The Devil's Deals: Not That Clever?

So, we've got Lucius Needful, running a shop selling cursed objects. Rick shuts him down.

Cool concept. But is it really that deep?

I mean, aren't devil's deals a bit of a cliché? Sure, they put a Rick and Morty spin on it, but…

Maybe I'm just jaded. Seen too many Faustian bargains in my day.

Summer's Gym: A Bit… Basic?

Then there's Summer working at the gym. And getting ridiculously buff.

Okay, that part is pretty funny. The visual gag of her muscles bulging is great.

But the storyline itself? It feels a little… predictable.

Girl insecure. Girl works out. Girl gets too buff. Girl learns lesson.

We've seen it before. Just with slightly more green protein shake.

Rick and Morty's Anti-Capitalist Stance

The episode does touch on anti-capitalist themes, right? Rick shutting down Lucius Needful's shop is a clear statement.

Or is it just Rick being Rick? Hard to tell sometimes.

Maybe I'm overthinking it. Maybe it's just a cartoon. A very, very funny cartoon.

Is It Bad? No! Just... Overhyped?

Look, I'm not saying "Something Ricked This Way Comes" is bad. Not at all.

It's got classic Rick and Morty moments. Witty dialogue. Absurd situations.

But does it deserve all the praise it gets? That's the question.

Compared to some of the show's later episodes, it feels a little… tame.

The Problem With High Expectations

Maybe the problem is the bar is just set so high for Rick and Morty. We expect genius.

When we get "just" a really good episode, it feels like a letdown.

It's like ordering a gourmet burger and getting a perfectly decent, but regular, burger.

You're not mad. Just… slightly disappointed.

Final Thoughts: It's Still Good, Okay?

So, yeah, I might think "Something Ricked This Way Comes" is a tad overrated.

Don't @ me. It's just an opinion. And everyone's entitled to one, right?

Except maybe if your opinion is that Rick and Morty isn't good. Then we might have a problem.

But seriously, watch the episode again. And tell me if you agree. Or disagree. I can handle it.

Just be nice. And maybe bring a Szechuan sauce reference. Always a winner.

And let's all agree that Rick is still the smartest man in the universe, even if his adventures sometimes feel a little bit familiar.
