Say It Don't Spray It Game Jimmy Fallon

Okay, let's talk about something important. Something that involves spit and celebrity giggles. I'm talking about Say It Don't Spray It from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The Game We All Know
We've all seen it. Jimmy Fallon and a guest fill their mouths with water. Then, they try to say a phrase without, well, spraying it everywhere. Hilarity, supposedly, ensues.
Is it just me, or is this game a little... much? It's messy. It's kinda gross. And I have a confession: I don't always find it that funny.

Unpopular Opinion Incoming!
Here it comes. Deep breath. Say It Don't Spray It is overhyped. There, I said it!
Don't get me wrong, I like Jimmy Fallon. He's got energy and enthusiasm. But this particular game? It feels like a cheap laugh.
It relies on the obvious. Water + mouths + talking = guaranteed splattering. Where's the cleverness?

Is it Really That Funny?
The best moments are usually when someone unexpectedly soaks themselves. But even then, the humor feels fleeting. Like, "Haha, you got wet! Now what?"
I feel like there are much more interesting games they could be playing. Games that showcase wit and talent. Games that don't involve the potential for accidental mouth-to-mouth water transfer. Yikes!
Maybe I'm just a germaphobe. Maybe I'm too serious. But I think we can all agree the game involves some element of the players spitting on each other.
Other Games Are Better!
Think about Box of Lies. Think about Lip Sync Battle. Those games are actually entertaining!

They showcase creativity and comedic timing. Say It Don't Spray It just showcases the human body's amazing ability to eject liquids.
Perhaps I'm also thinking of the poor stagehands who have to clean up all that water. It's not an easy job.
The Allure of the Spray
Okay, I get it. There's something inherently amusing about watching celebrities be silly. Especially when they're covered in water.

Maybe it's the unexpectedness. Maybe it's the schadenfreude. I don't know. But I'm just not as captivated as everyone else seems to be.
It's a simple formula, and sometimes simple works. But for me, it's often just a bit of a splash and dash, before moving on to a different, better game.
I'm Not Alone, Right?
Am I the only one who feels this way? Is it sacrilege to question the brilliance of Say It Don't Spray It?
I suspect there are others out there who agree. We're the silent majority. We're the people who quietly change the channel when the game starts.

Let's unite! Okay, maybe not. But let me know if you feel the same.
Maybe it's time for Jimmy Fallon to retire this game. Or maybe it's just me and my aversion to watching people spit water.
Perhaps I should create my own late-night game. "Whisper Sweet Nothings and Try Not to Yawn?"
Just a thought. What do you think of the game?
