Saturday Night Live Review The Best And Worst Of Natasha

Saturday Night Live Review The Best And Worst Of Natasha

Okay, let's talk SNL and Natasha Lyonne. She finally hosted! Was it amazing? Was it terrible? Well, let's just say opinions were... divided.

The Good Natasha

First, the good stuff. Her monologue was... her! Quirky, rambling, and strangely endearing. Definitely felt like her.

She brought that signature New York grit. Reminded us why we loved her in shows like Russian Doll and Orange Is the New Black. She owned the stage, even if it was a little chaotic.

The "Grey Adult Pigtails" sketch? Hilarious! It felt like something she would genuinely find funny. Strong performances all around!

Her comfort level was obvious. She clearly loves comedy, and it showed. Didn't seem scared at all, which is more than can be said for some hosts.

Best Sketch Nominees

Besides the pigtails, the "Movie Trailer" sketch had promise. Natasha nailed the jaded actress vibe. It was almost too real.

The "Please Don't Destroy" segment was... okay. A little too meta for my taste, but some people loved it. Can't win 'em all, right?

The... Less Good Natasha

Now, for the not-so-great. Some sketches just fell flat. Like, really flat.

The energy wasn't always consistent. There were moments where she seemed a little lost. Maybe it was nerves?

And let's be honest, some of the writing wasn't doing her any favors. A great host can only do so much with weak material.

Did anyone else feel like she was trying too hard in a few sketches?
Maybe dialing it back would have helped.

Worst Sketch Contenders

That "Ex-Girlfriend" sketch? Oof. The premise was interesting, but the execution was just... awkward.

And the "Cajun Restaurant" bit? I'm still not sure what that was supposed to be. Just a lot of yelling, honestly.

Unpopular Opinion Time

Here's where I might lose some of you. I think Natasha Lyonne is better in smaller doses. Lead roles, maybe not so much.

Hear me out! She's brilliant as a supporting character. A scene-stealer. But as the main focus? Sometimes it feels... forced.

Think about it: But I'm a Cheerleader. She's amazing in that. But she's surrounded by equally strong personalities.

This isn't a diss on her talent. It's just an observation. She shines brightest when she's bouncing off other comedic forces.

The Verdict

So, was Natasha's SNL episode a triumph? Nah. Was it a disaster? Definitely not.

It was... uneven. Moments of brilliance mixed with moments of "what was that?". Just like life, right?

Ultimately, it was watchable. And that's more than can be said for some SNL episodes. Plus, she gave us "Grey Adult Pigtails." For that, we are eternally grateful.
