Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame 2021 Hbo

Okay, let's be honest. Did anyone else watch the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2021 on HBO and think, "Wait, what?" I mean, it's always a bit of a head-scratcher, right?
Don't get me wrong! I love music. I even own a few records (yes, vinyl!).
The Inductees: A Mixed Bag?
This year's class included Tina Turner, Carole King, The Go-Go's, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters, and Todd Rundgren. Pretty impressive list, huh?
Must Read
But then you start to think. Were they really all Rock and Roll? Was Jay-Z more hip-hop than rock?
Maybe the definition of Rock & Roll is broader than I thought. Perhaps it's evolving... or maybe I'm just getting old.
The Performances: Hits and Misses
The performances, as always, were a mixed bag. Some absolutely rocked! Some made me want to fast forward.

Christina Aguilera singing "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" in tribute to Tina Turner? Powerful! No doubt about that.
But some of the others? Not so much. It's like some acts are just there to fill space.
And the speeches! Some were heartfelt. Others were…long. Really, really long.
My (Slightly) Unpopular Opinions
Here's where I might lose some of you. Prepare yourselves.

I think the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame needs a serious revamp. It feels a little…stuck in the past.
Do we really need another awards show? Is it just a chance for celebrities to pat themselves on the back?
The Snubs: Who Got Left Out?
The real question is, who got snubbed? Every year, there are names that make you say, "Seriously? They're not in?"
Where is Iron Maiden? Where is Judas Priest? And what about Motorhead?

Those bands laid the groundwork of heavy metal. They influenced countless musicians.
It's like the Hall of Fame has a blind spot for certain genres. Or maybe they just have a weird sense of humor.
Is it Still Relevant?
So, is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2021 still relevant? Does anyone even care anymore?
Maybe. Maybe not. It definitely sparks debate, that's for sure.

At least it gives us something to complain about. And let's be real, complaining is a national pastime. Thanks Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
In the end, it's all just a bit of fun. Right?
Maybe next year they'll finally induct Weird Al Yankovic. Now that would be truly rock and roll.
Alright, time to go listen to some actual rock music. And maybe some Jay-Z. You know, for research.
