Psalm Of Planets Eureka Seven Hi-evolution 1 2017

Okay, let's talk about something. Something... controversial. I'm talking about Psalm of Planets Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution 1. The 2017 movie. Prepare yourselves.
Now, everyone loves Eureka Seven, right? Giant robots surfing light. A boy meets girl story for the ages. Epic soundtracks. We get it.
But, here's my unpopular opinion: Was Hi-Evolution 1... good? Like, actually good? Or were we just blinded by nostalgia?
Must Read
Wait, What Even Happened?
Seriously, try to explain the plot to someone who hasn't seen it. Good luck! Time travel? Alternate realities? A reset button the size of a planet?
My brain hurt after watching it. I think my couch cushions still remember the confused screaming.
Animation Overload
The animation was beautiful, don't get me wrong. But it was so much. Like, a visual feast where you accidentally swallow a whole plate of raw fish.

Too many particle effects! Too many lens flares! My eyes needed a vacation after that.
I felt like I was watching a screensaver fight a rainbow.
Rentons's Dad: The Real Hero?
Let's be honest, the coolest part was probably Holland. Remember him? That man is just oozing coolness.

But the REAL hero? Adroc Thurston. Sacrificing yourself to save the world? Now that's a father's love (and conveniently sets up the whole series, thanks Dad!).
Also, Adroc had some serious drip. I'm just saying.
The Music: Still Bangin'
Okay, I’ll give it this: the music still slaps. The remixes were great! They knew exactly what they were doing.
Even if I didn't understand what was happening on screen, at least my ears were happy.

Maybe I just needed to listen to the soundtrack and imagine a different movie.
The Verdict: A Beautiful Mess
Look, I'm not saying Hi-Evolution 1 is bad. It's just... a lot. A beautifully animated, confusing, and occasionally frustrating lot.
It's like a reunion with old friends where everyone's acting a little weird and you’re not sure why.

Maybe the other Hi-Evolution movies cleared things up. Maybe they didn't. I'm still processing the first one.
I think it's a film you either love or are profoundly baffled by. There's no in-between.
And that's okay! We can all have our own opinions. Even if mine is objectively wrong (probably).
So, did you love Hi-Evolution 1? Did it make sense to you? Or are you also still scratching your head years later?
Let me know! Maybe together, we can unravel the mysteries of Eureka Seven... or just agree to disagree and go watch the original series again.
