Pretty Little Liars Who Is A In The Show

Okay, let's be real. We all watched Pretty Little Liars. We all spent countless hours glued to the screen. And we all screamed at the TV when "A" sent another cryptic text.
But, who was really behind it all? That’s the million-dollar question, right?
The Usual Suspects
Let's start with the obvious. Spencer Hastings was a prime suspect. She was smart, driven, and always a step ahead. Plus, she had that whole mental health history that made things… interesting.
Must Read
Then there's Aria Montgomery. Don't even get me started on her secret collaboration with "A". Like, what WAS that about?!
Hanna Marin was another popular choice. She had the sass and the secrets. Plus, her fashion sense could definitely be used for evil.
And let's not forget Emily Fields. Okay, maybe she seemed too nice to be "A". But sometimes, the quiet ones are the sneakiest!

Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Ready for a hot take? Here it comes…
I think Mona Vanderwaal should have stayed "A". Seriously. End of story.
Hear me out! She was brilliant! The original "A" had a motive. She was bullied, overlooked, and wanted revenge.

Her reveal was EPIC. The black hoodie, the creepy lair... it was all perfect! Nothing else can compare. Change my mind.
The show tried to give us bigger and badder "A"s. Charlotte DiLaurentis/CeCe Drake? Meh. Alex Drake, Spencer's evil twin? Eye roll.
These reveals felt forced. Like the writers were just throwing darts at a board of names.
The later "A"s had convoluted backstories and bizarre motivations. They lacked the raw, relatable anger of Mona. Her transformation from nerdy outcast to queen bee tormentor was just way more compelling.

Why Mona Worked
Mona's "A" wasn't just about tormenting the Liars. It was about power. About finally being seen and heard.
She was a mastermind. Crafty, clever, and completely unhinged in the best way possible.
Her downfall was heartbreaking, but it cemented her legacy as the ultimate "A". I will stand by this opinion always.

Look, I love the show and the crazy ride. But the later "A" reveals felt like they jumped the shark.
Sometimes, the original is the best. And in this case, Mona Vanderwaal will forever be the queen of the "A" game.
"I'm not crazy, I'm creative." - Mona Vanderwaal
So, there you have it. My (possibly controversial) thoughts on who should have been "A". Agree? Disagree? Let me know!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch the first two seasons of Pretty Little Liars. For research purposes, of course!
