Power Book Iii: Raising Kanan Season 1 Episode 2

Okay, let's talk Raising Kanan, episode two. Remember that episode? It was called "Repping the Set."
Honestly, I might have an unpopular opinion. This wasn't the best episode. But it certainly wasn't the worst.
Kanan's Still Kanan...Kind Of
Young Kanan is still figuring things out, right? He's like a confused puppy trying to understand what "power" even means.
Must Read
He’s trying to get down with his mom’s business. Raq is like, "Slow your roll, kid." Who can blame her?
He messed up with Famous and it's pretty hilarious in retrospect. He got robbed. So rookie.
Marvin: The Unsung Comedic Relief
Let's be real, Marvin is the comic relief we didn't know we needed. He's so intense but so goofy!
His attempts to be a good dad are… questionable. But endearing, in a weird way.

He has anger issues, sure. But he also has the best one-liners. Anyone else cracking up when he interacted with his daughter, Jukebox?
The Raq Effect: A Masterclass in Manipulation
Raq is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. She's so calculating and smart.
She orchestrates everything. Even the people around her have no idea what the plan is.
That scene where she "comforts" Kanan after he gets robbed? Classic Raq. She's teaching him lessons the hard way.
Lou-Lou: The Quiet Storm
Lou-Lou is the steady hand. The calm in the storm. Right?

He's quieter than Raq and Marvin. Don't get it twisted, he's just as ruthless.
He is definitely someone you don't want to cross. That's for sure!
The Music, Though
Can we all agree the soundtrack is fire? Seriously, the music makes every scene ten times better.
It perfectly captures the vibe of 1990s Queens. The producers definitely knew what they were doing.

I personally added half the soundtrack to my playlist.
Detective Howard is a wildcard!
Detective Howard pops up and is instantly giving off bad vibes. He's going to cause trouble, right?
He's got a past with Raq, that's obvious from the get-go. This is gonna be messy.
Is he Kanan's dad? Too soon to say. But that’s my guess.
Final Thoughts?
Episode two built on the foundation laid by the premiere. It set the stage for the family drama to come.

Was it action-packed? Not really. But was it important for character development? Absolutely.
Even though some may consider it a slower episode, it was still entertaining and well-acted.
Raising Kanan had me hooked. The show explores the origins of a ruthless drug lord.
I'm already waiting to watch more. It keeps you guessing.
So, maybe my unpopular opinion isn’t so unpopular after all. It was a good episode! Fight me.
