Power Book 2 Season 1 Episode 5

Okay, let's talk Power Book II: Ghost. Specifically, Season 1, Episode 5. Remember that one?
It was called "The Gift of Power". But honestly? I think the real gift was the drama.
Tariq's Hustle Was...Something
We see Tariq, ever the schemer. He's juggling classes, selling drugs, and dealing with his family drama. Does anyone else think he's a bit TOO good at this?
Must Read
It's like, dude, aren't you supposed to be mourning your dad? Maybe crack a book? Just a thought.
And let's not forget his academic pursuits. He's trying to earn his inheritance. All while wearing those hoodies. Iconic.
The Monet Tejada Show (and Tariq's Guest Appearance)
Honestly, Monet steals every scene she's in. She’s the queen of all queens.
She's manipulative, ruthless, and looks fabulous doing it. I'd watch a spin-off solely focused on her. Just saying.

She's running the Tejada family. All with a perfectly coiffed hairstyle. Goals.
And how about those family dynamics? The Tejada family is seriously dysfunctional. The Tejada drama is so good.
Dru, Cane, and Diana. Always at each other's throats. It is like a really intense family dinner.
The Lauren Situation: My Unpopular Opinion
Okay, here's where things get spicy. This might be my most controversial Power take.

Was anyone else... bored by Lauren? I said it!.
I know, I know. She's supposed to be the innocent one caught in Tariq's web. But I never really connected with her character.
She always seemed like a plot device, not a person. I feel like I'm the only one who feels this way.
Don't get me wrong, I felt bad for her! But she didn’t hook me like Monet, and many other side characters.

She's a sweet girl caught in a bad situation. But something about her just didn’t click.
Brayden, The Unlikely Comic Relief
Brayden is the comedic relief we never knew we needed. His lines are funny.
He's the rich, clueless friend who somehow gets involved in everything. He means well, but his naivety is hilarious.
I love his cluelessness. His facial expressions are priceless.

He's like the guy who accidentally stumbles into a drug empire. I'm always here for it. The bromance with Tariq is great.
Final Thoughts (and a Question)
Overall, "The Gift of Power" was a solid episode. Plenty of twists, turns, and questionable decisions.
The acting was phenomenal, as always. Especially Mary J. Blige and the rest of the Tejada clan.
But really makes you wonder if Tariq will ever catch a break. Or if he’s destined to repeat his father’s mistakes. Will he be another Ghost?
So, what were your thoughts on this episode? And am I the only one who wasn't completely sold on Lauren? Let me know!
