Pokemon X And Y When Does Axew Evolve

Okay, let's talk about something really important. Something that's kept me up at night. Something that involves tiny dragons and excruciating patience.
Axew's Evolution: A Neverending Story?
We're talking about Axew, of course! That adorable little tusked monster from Unova. He's got big dreams. Big, Haxorus-sized dreams. But first, he needs to evolve.
And evolving Axew in Pokemon X and Y? Well, let's just say it's a commitment. A serious, long-term relationship kind of commitment.
Must Read
Level 38: The Waiting Game Begins
Axew becomes Fraxure at level 38. Okay, cool! Thirty-eight levels. That's... doable. Right?
You train. You battle. You maybe even feed him a few Poke Puffs (because who can resist that face?). Level 38 finally arrives! Fraxure is here. Huzzah!
But don't get too excited. The real test is yet to come.
The Long Road to Haxorus
Now, here's where my unpopular opinion comes in. Are you ready? Fraxure needs to hit LEVEL 48 to become Haxorus. Level 48! That's a whopping TEN more levels!

Ten levels of grinding. Ten levels of battling Zigzagoons. Ten levels of desperately searching for Rare Candies. It feels like forever!
Meanwhile, your friends are all showing off their Greninjas and Charizards. And you're just... there. With your Fraxure. Patiently (or impatiently) waiting.
Is Haxorus Worth It?
Okay, let's be real. Haxorus is a beast. A total powerhouse. A Dragon-type force to be reckoned with.
But is it worth all that grinding? All that time invested? I'm starting to think maybe I should have just traded for one.

Seriously though, the payoff is great. Seeing that sleek, axe-jawed dragon finally emerge is pretty darn satisfying.
My Unpopular Opinion
Here it is. Brace yourselves. I think Haxorus evolves too late.
Yes, I said it! Level 48 is excessive. It feels like the game is deliberately trying to test my patience. And my sanity.
Maybe level 45 would have been better? Or even... dare I say it... level 40? Just a thought. Don't @ me.

Tips for the Axew Evolution Journey
So, how do you survive the long haul? Here are a few tips, gleaned from my own experiences (and a few near-breakdowns):
First, EXP Share is your friend. Make sure Axew (and later Fraxure) is always getting experience, even when he's not battling.
Second, find a good grinding spot. A place with high-level Pokemon that give good experience points. Victory Road is your friend.
Third, stock up on healing items. Potions, Super Potions, Hyper Potions... you'll need them.

And finally, remember to take breaks! Don't burn yourself out. Go outside. Touch grass. Then come back and grind some more.
The Haxorus High Five
Despite all my complaining, I do love Haxorus. He's a powerful and loyal companion.
And there's a certain sense of accomplishment that comes with finally evolving him. You earned that Haxorus. You really did.
So, to all the trainers out there embarking on the Axew evolution journey: I salute you. May your battles be fruitful, and your Rare Candies plentiful. Good luck!
