Ouran High School Host Club Box Set

Okay, let's talk about something near and dear to my slightly embarrassing heart: The Ouran High School Host Club Box Set.
Yes, the one filled with pretty boys, reverse harems, and enough roses to give you allergies just looking at it.
Is It Just Me...?
Don't get me wrong. I love Ouran. I really do.
Must Read
But is the box set… slightly overrated?
I know! Blasphemy! Pitchforks at the ready, I can hear you all now.
Hear Me Out!
First off, the price. Ouch. My wallet cries every time I even think about it. Isn’t it a bit much for a high school comedy?
You could probably buy, like, a small island made of manga for that kind of cash.

Okay, maybe not an island. But a really, REALLY nice bookshelf?
And the packaging? It’s pretty, I'll give it that. All shiny and pastel. But is it practical?
Storing it is a nightmare. It’s gigantic. Where does one put such a behemoth?
My cat now uses mine as a napping platform. Very elegant.
The Actual Manga Though...
Now, the stories are great! Haruhi is a gem. The twins are chaotic perfection. And Tamaki? Endearing in his own, slightly bonkers way.

But are they box-set-worthy? Do they require such extravagant packaging and a hefty price tag?
I'm just saying, individual volumes might be the unsung hero of this tale. Plus you can read them in the bath!
Character Quirks Overload
Let’s be honest, some of the jokes are… repetitive.
How many times can Tamaki dramatically collapse in a corner feeling unloved?

Don't get me wrong, it's funny. The first few times. Then it’s just… predictable. Like clockwork. Or a very dramatic metronome.
And while I adore the Hitachiin twins, their mischievous antics sometimes feel more like a script than a natural occurrence.
It's just, they are so perfectly synchronized that you would think they rehearse it when no one is watching.
The Unpopular Opinion…
So, here it is: the controversial, possibly career-ending statement.
The Ouran High School Host Club Box Set is a lovely, but potentially unnecessary, purchase.

The manga itself is fantastic, and the anime is a classic, but perhaps your money is better spent elsewhere.
Like on more manga. Or snacks. Definitely snacks.
Maybe this is just me being a grumpy manga reader. Maybe I secretly just want the box set to magically shrink so it fits on my shelf.
But hey, at least my cat is happy.
What do you think? Am I completely off base? Let me know, but be gentle! My heart is fragile, just like Tamaki when Haruhi rejects his advances.
