Orange Is The New Black Season 7 Episode 13

Okay, Let's Talk About the Orange Is the New Black Finale
Confession time. I have a feeling about the Orange Is the New Black finale. You know, season 7, episode 13? And it might be a little... controversial.
I know, I know. The whole series was a cultural phenomenon. Everyone was obsessed with Piper, Crazy Eyes, and all the Litchfield crew.
The "Feels" Were Real
I'm not saying I didn't shed a tear (or ten) throughout the series. Especially during Poussey's storyline. Heartbreaking stuff, truly.
Must Read
And the deportation storylines in the final season? Brutal. They hit hard and brought a realness that was incredibly important.
But Here's My "Unpopular" Opinion...
Ready for it? Deep breath. I think the finale... was just okay. Not bad, mind you. Just... okay.
Don't get me wrong. Seeing everyone kind of moving on was nice. Piper adjusting to life outside was realistic, if a little underwhelming.

And watching Taystee dedicate herself to helping others? Heartwarming, for sure. But something felt... missing.
Where Was The Zap?
Maybe I was expecting too much. Maybe I wanted some grand, dramatic conclusion. A massive twist. Something totally unexpected!
Instead, we got a fairly gentle send-off. Which, in retrospect, might be fitting for a show that started so explosively.

It was, as a friend of mine said, “kinda like a lukewarm bath after a really intense workout.” Safe and comfortable, but not exactly thrilling.
Did Everyone Get Their "Happily Ever After"?
I think the problem for me was the tidiness. Everyone's storylines wrapped up a little too neatly. Almost like they were ticking boxes.
Sure, some characters were still struggling. But even their struggles felt... resolved in a way. Like they were on the path to happiness, even if they weren't quite there yet.

Life isn't that neat, right? Especially after spending years in prison. Real life is messy! I would love to see more of the messy for some of the characters.
Maybe That's the Point?
Maybe that's the point. Maybe the show was trying to tell us that life goes on, even after trauma. That people can find hope and meaning, even in the darkest of places. That the ending should've been more optimistic.
And maybe I'm just a cynical grump who wanted more drama. It's entirely possible!

But still, a little part of me wishes the finale had a bit more... edge. A bit more of that Orange Is the New Black spark that made the early seasons so addictive.
So, What Did You Think?
Ultimately, the finale wasn't bad. Just... not as amazing as I'd hoped. It did give viewers a lot of characters' endings. It tied up a few loose ends, while leaving some hanging.
What did you think of the Orange Is the New Black finale? Am I alone in my lukewarm feelings? Let's discuss!
I'm ready for all the angry comments. Bring 'em on! Maybe you can convince me I'm wrong.
"After all, everyone is entitled to their opinion...even if it's wrong."
