Only Murders In The Building Season 2 Hulu

My Not-So-Secret Shame: Season 2 of Only Murders... Wasn't That Great
Okay, okay, hear me out! Everyone went nuts for season one of Only Murders In The Building. And rightfully so! It was brilliant. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez? Genius.
Season Two arrived with a bang. More mystery! More witty banter! More... pigeons? But somewhere along the line, the magic faltered. Am I the only one who felt this way?
The Case of the Missing Spark
The plot centered around Bunny Folger's murder. A complex web of secrets and suspects unfolded. It should have been gripping, right? But I found myself reaching for my phone more often than usual.
Must Read
Maybe it was the weight of expectation. Season one set the bar so high! It felt like season two was trying too hard. Trying to be clever, shocking, and meta all at once.
And the suspects? So many suspects! It became a blur of famous faces and red herrings. I honestly lost track of who was who about halfway through.
The Humor Had Its Moments
Don't get me wrong, there were some laugh-out-loud moments. Steve Martin and Martin Short are comedic gold. Their timing is impeccable.

The banter between Charles and Oliver was still hilarious. Their desperate attempts to stay relevant were painfully relatable. Who hasn't felt that existential dread of aging?
Selena Gomez continued to hold her own. She brought a cool, grounded presence to the chaotic duo. But even their combined charisma couldn't save the season completely.
Unpopular Opinion Alert: The Twists Felt... Forced
The reveal of the killer felt a little underwhelming. It wasn't as satisfying as season one's resolution. It felt like a plot twist for the sake of a plot twist.

And let's talk about that Mabel-Alice romance. I'm all for representation. But it felt rushed and underdeveloped. It didn't add much to the overall story, in my opinion.
Maybe the writers were trying to subvert expectations. Maybe they wanted to surprise us. But for me, it just didn't land.
Still Love The Show, Though!
Look, I'm not saying season two was terrible. I still enjoyed watching it. I'm a sucker for a good mystery (and Steve Martin's eyebrows).

The production value was top-notch. The sets were gorgeous. The costumes were fabulous (Mabel's outfits are always on point!).
And the theme song is still stuck in my head. "Only Murders in the Building..." catchy!
Hoping For a Season Three Comeback
I'm still excited for season three. I'm hoping the writers will learn from their mistakes. I want that season one magic back!

Maybe they'll focus on a smaller cast of characters. Maybe they'll dial back the self-aware humor. Maybe they'll finally give the pigeons a starring role. (Just kidding... mostly.)
So, am I alone in my season two skepticism? Or are there others who felt the same way? Let me know in the comments! And let's all cross our fingers for a killer (pun intended!) season three of Only Murders In The Building on Hulu.
