Only Murders In The Building Season 1 Finale

Okay, people, let's talk Only Murders In The Building Season 1 finale. Remember that cliffhanger? So good, right? But, hear me out, I have a confession.
My Unpopular Opinion About Jan
I wasn't totally shocked it was Jan. Don't get me wrong, Amy Ryan is fantastic! But something about her was just...off.
Maybe it was the intense clarinet playing. Or the way she stared at Charles. I don't know! It just felt too obvious in a way.
Must Read
Everyone was suspecting Sting. Others focused on Oliver's money problems. But for me, Jan always lingered in the background.
The "Lover" Angle: Overdone?
The whole "crazy ex-girlfriend" thing? Little cliché, maybe? I mean, it works. It definitely made things dramatic.
But come on! Poison? Clarinet reed poison, specifically? That's a commitment. A dark commitment!

I almost feel like a more subtle motive would have been even scarier. A slow burn of manipulation instead of full-blown crazy. Now, that would have been a twist.
Charles's Performance
Speaking of drama, let's talk about Charles (Steve Martin). He was the best bait, right? Sweet, vulnerable, and totally oblivious.
Watching him slowly realize Jan was the murderer was peak TV. The man's facial expressions deserve an Emmy. Pure gold!

However, how did he not smell the gas in the apartment? I mean, come on! Charles, open a window!
Mabel's Arc
I loved Mabel's backstory. The Hardy Boys connection? Genius! It added depth to her character.
Selena Gomez did a fantastic job portraying a somewhat detached but caring young woman. Her sarcasm is on point! I can't wait to see her character develop more in Season 2.

However, why was she so quick to trust Oscar again? I get the history. But maybe a little hesitation? That's me, anyway!
Oliver's Relatability
Oliver Putnam, portrayed by Martin Short, provided much needed comic relief. He's broke, obsessed with dips, and desperate for attention. Relatable, right?
I love how easily he gets distracted by his own thoughts and ideas. His energy is infectious, albeit a little chaotic at times. He is always ready to go.

Let's be honest, we all have a little bit of Oliver in us. The desperate need to create something great, even if it means bending the truth a little.
That Final Scene
Now, the ending! Everyone gets a text. "Get out of the building!". Then...boom! Bunny is dead!
That's a solid cliffhanger. The return of the trio as suspects. Perfect! I am happy to be kept waiting.
So, who did it? Was it someone we already know? Or a new character entering the scene? I am looking forward to see where the story goes!
