The Main Trio: Are We Really Obsessed?

Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin)

Steve Martin is a legend. That's just a fact. But honestly, was Charles that compelling in Season 1? He was a bit… bland, right?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed his awkwardness with Jan. But compared to the others, he felt like the straight man in a very wacky play. I am just speaking my truth here.

Oliver Putnam (Martin Short)

Now, Oliver Putnam! Martin Short is gold. He stole pretty much every scene he was in. And the dips! We can't forget the dips.

But sometimes, wasn't he too over-the-top? Like, dial it back to an 8, Martin, not a 12! Still, a great performance, I must admit.

Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez)

Selena Gomez as Mabel was… fine. She was cool, collected, and mysterious. But did she really bring the laughs like the other two?

Maybe it was the character. Maybe it was the writing. It was not her performance. But I feel her performance was underwhelming. Okay, don't hate me!

Supporting Players: Some Shine Brighter Than Others

Jan Bellows (Amy Ryan)

Amy Ryan is amazing. Jan was the perfect mix of sweet and psycho. Her performance made the whole season a thrill to experience.

But was her motive a little…weak? A lonely bassoonist driven to murder? Really? I was hoping for something grander, you know? It was still great though.

Teddy Dimas (Nathan Lane) and Theo Dimas (James Caverly)

Nathan Lane is always a joy to watch. Teddy Dimas was wonderfully shady. But did we really need another secret storyline with Theo?

The whole grave-robbing, Zoe's death subplot felt a bit disconnected from the main plot. And Theo using sign language? That was good, I am not denying it. It just felt...extra.

Howard Morris (Michael Cyril Creighton)

Okay, let's be honest. Howard and his cat, Evelyn? Iconic. Michael Cyril Creighton nailed that quirky, anxious energy. His short scenes were always memorable.

I wanted more Howard! Give him his own spin-off! Maybe "Howard's Apartment: Only Cats Allowed."

Unpopular Opinion: The Season 1 Guest Stars

Sting was…Sting. It was fun, but nothing groundbreaking. We just had Sting playing Sting.

Tina Fey as Cinda Canning? Brilliant casting! I loved her. She had limited screen time, and she totally made an impact. Her podcast? Comedy gold!

Overall, the Only Murders in the Building cast was great. Every actor delivered. However, some shined more than others. That is all I am saying!
