Once Upon A Time In Queens Mets Documentary

Okay, Confession Time About That Mets Doc
Look, I know everyone raved about Once Upon a Time in Queens. It's the Mets, it's the '86 team, it's got all the drama.
But am I the only one who thought it was... a little long?
Don't Get Me Wrong, It Was Good...
I learned a lot! The coke-fueled stories were wild. The rivalries, the personalities... chef's kiss.
Must Read
Darryl Strawberry's story is seriously compelling. And Doc Gooden? Heartbreaking.
But, like, four parts? I'm a busy person! My attention span is shorter than a Bartolo Colon sprint to first base.
The 80s Were Wild, We Get It!
We get it, the 80s were a different time. Everyone was doing... stuff. Lots of stuff.
Did we really need that many anecdotes about the nightlife?

I started feeling like I was watching a Goodfellas remake, but with baseball bats instead of guns.
My Unpopular Opinion: Too Much Focus On the "Bad Boys"
Listen, I love a good underdog story. And the 86 Mets were definitely... unique.
But sometimes, it felt like the documentary gloried in the bad behavior.
Yes, they partied hard. Yes, they had issues. But what about the baseball?
Remember They Actually Played Baseball?
I mean, these guys were phenomenal athletes. They won the World Series!

I wanted more highlights of Keith Hernandez's amazing fielding. Less about... well, you know.
And what about the unsung heroes? The guys who weren't always in the headlines?
Give Me More Mookie!
Seriously, Mookie Wilson deserves a whole documentary of his own. The man changed Mets history with that little roller up the first base line.
His story should have been more prominent. He seems like a genuinely good dude.
Instead, we got another five minutes about someone's bar fight.

Could Have Been Tighter, That's All
Look, I'm not saying it was a bad documentary. It was well-made, engaging, and brought back a lot of memories.
But could it have been edited down a bit? Absolutely. A tight three-parter would have been perfect.
Maybe I'm just getting old. Or maybe I just wanted to see more baseball and less... everything else.
Final Verdict: Still Worth Watching (Just Maybe With Snacks)
So, should you watch Once Upon a Time in Queens? Yes, definitely.
Just be prepared to commit. And maybe have some snacks on hand to help you through the longer stretches.

And remember, it's okay to fast forward through the third story about someone's wild night out. I won't judge.
P.S. One Last Thought...
Was anyone else secretly hoping for a surprise cameo from Mr. Met? Just me?
He deserves a spot in the Mets Hall of Fame. End of discussion.
Let's go Mets! (Maybe next year…)
