No Es Del Que Quiere Ni Del Que Corre

Ever heard the saying, "It's not about wanting it, or running fast?" Seems a bit harsh, right? Like, what is it about then?
We're constantly told to chase our dreams. To put in the work. To hustle, hustle, hustle! But sometimes, I wonder if that's the whole story.
I mean, I really want to be a millionaire. I want to wake up looking like Ryan Reynolds. Am I even close?

The Lottery of Life
Okay, maybe "lottery" is a bit dramatic. But let's be real. Sometimes, things just fall into place for some people. It's infuriating, isn't it?
They weren't the hardest workers. They weren't even the smartest! But somehow, they ended up on top.
Is it luck? Is it connections? Is it just being in the right place at the right time? Probably a bit of all of the above.

Talent? Overrated! (Maybe)
Don't get me wrong, talent is great. But raw talent alone? It's like having a fancy sports car but no gas.
I know people who are incredibly gifted musicians. They can shred a guitar like nobody's business. But they're still playing in their garage on Tuesday nights.
Meanwhile, someone with half their talent is selling out stadiums. Because they're better at networking, marketing, or just plain hustling. Even if they didn't really, really want it.

The Unfair Advantage
Here's where things get a little uncomfortable. Let's talk about privilege. It exists. Denying it is like denying the sky is blue.
Someone born into a wealthy family has a massive head start. They have opportunities others can only dream of.
And yes, they might work hard! But their "hard work" looks a lot different than someone struggling to make ends meet while working two jobs.

It's not a dig at them. It's just an observation. A slightly bitter, slightly jealous observation.
So, What's the Point?
Am I saying effort is pointless? Absolutely not! Hard work is crucial. Wanting something is important.
But maybe, just maybe, we need to acknowledge the other factors at play. The unseen forces that influence our paths.

Maybe we need to be a little kinder to ourselves. And a little less judgmental of others. We really don't know other person's struggle.
Because sometimes, it truly isn't about how much you want it, or how fast you run. Sometimes, it's about the cards you were dealt, and how you choose to play them.
And sometimes, it's just dumb luck. I'm still waiting for mine.
So, next time you see someone "succeeding" seemingly effortlessly, remember this article. Maybe they really wanted it. Maybe they were running hard. Or maybe… they just got lucky.
