New Season What We Do In The Shadows

Okay, folks, let's talk What We Do In The Shadows. Season five just wrapped, and my brain is buzzing like a vampire after a very late night at a blood drive.
I know, I know, everyone's probably already binged it twice. But I have thoughts. Controversial thoughts, maybe.
Is Nandor...Actually Kind Of Annoying?
Hear me out! I love Nandor. He's dramatic, he's hopelessly devoted, and he yells "Relentless!" a lot. But this season, did anyone else feel like his desperate need for a familiar, then a wife, then Guillermo… again… was just a tad grating?
Must Read
It’s like, dude, you've been around for centuries. Get a hobby that isn't obsessing over people who are clearly only tolerating you. Maybe try pottery.
I get it, eternal loneliness is a bummer. But, seriously, buy a dog.
Guillermo's Transformation: Finally! (But Also...Uh Oh?)
Guillermo finally becoming a vampire? Yes! Justice! Years of servitude and unrequited longing finally paying off!

But, and this is a big but, something felt off. Was it just me, or was his vampire transformation a little... rushed?
The whole thing felt like a setup for future drama. Which, granted, is what this show thrives on. But still.
The Secret Weapon: Colin Robinson Continues to Amaze
Okay, unpopular opinion number two: Colin Robinson is the MVP. Every. Single. Season.

I know, he's supposed to be an energy vampire. But his deadpan delivery and commitment to the bit are comedic gold.
This season, him navigating his emotional growth was hilarious and surprisingly touching. Honestly, how does Mark Proksch pull that off?
Nadja: Still Queen, End of Discussion
Let's be real, Nadja is the HBIC. Her vampire nightclub, her disdain for everyone, her devotion to her doll… she’s just consistently amazing.
No notes. Just pure, unadulterated Nadja-ness.

"I curse you, you beautiful idiot!" - Nadja (probably to everyone at some point)
The Verdict: Still Great, But...
What We Do In The Shadows season five was still fantastic. The writing is sharp, the cast is brilliant, and the absurdity is dialed up to eleven.
But, and this is where I brace for tomatoes, I think it might be dipping just a tiny bit from the peak. Like a delicious ice cream cone that's started to melt a little.

The plotlines felt a bit more scattered, the jokes a touch less surprising. It's still funny, don't get me wrong. But I miss that raw, unpredictable energy from earlier seasons.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm being overly critical. Maybe I need more coffee (or, you know, a pint of blood).
What did you all think? Am I completely off base? Let me know! (But be nice, I’m a sensitive vampire sympathizer).
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch the episode where they fight the Sire and contemplate all of life's big questions. Like, why are vampires so bad at cleaning up after themselves?
