New Movies That Came Out In September 2018

Ah, September 2018. The month summer stubbornly refuses to leave. It's also movie release time!
Action, Adventure, and Dinosaurs (Oh My!)
First up, we had The Predator. Remember the original? Arnie battling an alien with dreadlocks? Good times!
This one? Well, it had predators. And a lot of... stuff happening. I think they over-predatored it.
Must Read
Unpopular opinion alert: Maybe fewer predators, more coherence? Just a thought.
Then there was A Simple Favor. Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick? Sign me up!
Dark secrets, stylish outfits, and a whole lot of mystery. It was like a glamorous, slightly bonkers episode of "Desperate Housewives".
I personally loved it, but I also unironically enjoy Lifetime movies. So, you know, take that with a grain of salt.

And let's not forget The Nun! Did you scream? I definitely jumped. Okay, maybe yelped. A little.
Part of the Conjuring universe, this movie promised scares. It delivered… something. I honestly spent most of the time hiding behind my popcorn.
Anyone else think demon nuns are slightly overdone? Maybe evil librarians next time?
Small Screen Gems
September wasn't all blockbusters. Peppermint, starring Jennifer Garner, offered a revenge thriller.

A woman wronged, seeking justice. Classic stuff! Think "Death Wish," but with more kale smoothies (maybe?).
Look, it wasn't winning any Oscars, but sometimes you just want to watch someone kick butt. I get it.
For the family crowd, there was Smallfoot. A yeti believes humans exist! Adorable, right?
It was cute, colorful, and had some catchy tunes. Perfect for keeping the kids entertained for a couple of hours.
However, can we agree that animated yetis all look suspiciously similar? Just saying.

The Award Contenders... or Not
Speaking of cute, we had Life Itself. Oh boy. This movie aimed for profound. Landed somewhere near… perplexed?
Multiple storylines, intertwined destinies, and a whole lot of melodrama. It wanted to make you cry. I mostly felt confused.
Maybe I'm heartless, but I needed a flowchart to follow what was going on. Anyone else feel that way?
And there was White Boy Rick. Based on a true story, it depicted a young man who became an informant.

Matthew McConaughey was in it, so you knew it had some potential. It was solid, but did it blow anyone away?
It's one of those movies you watch and then promptly forget about. Sorry, Rick.
Overall, September 2018 served up a mixed bag. Some thrills, some chills, and some definite "meh" moments.
Were there any hidden gems I missed? Let me know! My Netflix queue is always hungry.
Until then, happy watching (or re-watching... or just scrolling endlessly through streaming services, we've all been there).
And remember, it's just my opinion. You're free to disagree. Loudly. Just kidding (mostly).
