New Movies Coming Out In Theaters June 2022

June 2022. Remember that month? It felt like FOREVER ago! So many movies, so little time. Let's dive into the cinematic chaos that was.
Jurassic World: Dominion
Okay, dinosaurs. Big, toothy dinosaurs. Jurassic World: Dominion promised epic battles and returning favorites. Did it deliver? Eh, kind of?
I know, I know, some people LOVED it. But honestly? It felt a bit…long. And maybe had one too many plotlines. Don't @ me!
Must Read
Unpopular Opinion Alert: Jeff Goldblum was the best part. Always.
Lightyear
To infinity…and beyond! Well, to the theater, at least. Lightyear aimed to tell the origin story of the real Buzz Lightyear. The one the toy was based on!
Look, it was a fun movie. Visually stunning, definitely. But did anyone else feel like it was… unnecessary? Pixar usually knocks it out of the park, but this felt like a single.
Chris Evans did a great job, though. No complaints there. Maybe I just missed Tim Allen’s Buzz a little too much.

Elvis
Alright, alright, alright! The King is back! Elvis, the biopic, promised a look into the life of the legendary Elvis Presley. Baz Luhrmann was at the helm. Expect the unexpected!
Austin Butler? Nailed it. The music? Incredible. The costumes? Outrageous! It was a sensory overload in the best way possible.
Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker? Okay, that was... a choice. A strange one. But overall, a super entertaining movie.

Top Gun: Maverick
Need for speed? Check. Tom Cruise defying age? Check. Nostalgia factor through the roof? Triple check! Top Gun: Maverick soared into theaters and blew everyone away.
Seriously, who didn't love this movie? I saw it twice. The aerial stunts were insane. Tom Cruise is a madman (in the best way possible).
If you didn't feel the need...the need for speed after watching this, did you even watch it? Pure cinematic adrenaline.

The Black Phone
Creepy phone? Check. Ethan Hawke being terrifying? Check. Genuine scares? You bet! The Black Phone delivered a chilling experience for horror fans.
I went in expecting jump scares. I got psychological horror that stuck with me for days. Ethan Hawke's performance was fantastic. Seriously unsettling.
If you like being genuinely creeped out, this movie was for you. But maybe sleep with the lights on. Just in case. And unplug your landline (do people still have those?).

Cha Cha Real Smooth
Now for something completely different! Cha Cha Real Smooth offered a more indie, feel-good vibe. Dakota Johnson AND writer, director AND star Cooper Raiff? Count me in.
This movie hit the spot if you are looking for something genuine. Funny, awkward and heartwarming. Raiff is someone to keep an eye on.
I know not everyone loves indie films, but I think it's great to watch to refresh your palate after the big blockbuster movies. It's good for the soul, man!
So, there you have it. A quick (and possibly controversial) look back at the movies of June 2022. What were your favorites? Did I miss anything? Sound off in the comments (if there were comments)!
