My Job Here Is Done Sailor Moon

Okay, okay, hear me out. I know what you're thinking.

I'm about to say something controversial about Sailor Moon.

But somebody has to say it! Get ready for it!

Unpopular Opinion Incoming!

So, here's the thing. Sometimes, I feel like Sailor Moon's work is... done. In like, the first season. Maybe early second.

Woah, woah, hold your horses! Don't get your tiaras in a twist.

Think about it. She defeats Queen Beryl. The world is saved. Everyone's happy.

Wouldn't that be a pretty great ending? I think so.

Like, she proved herself. She unlocked her powers. She found love. What more does a magical girl really need?

It's like, Sailor Moon already hit all the major milestones.

I understand the need for sequels. Gotta sell those toys, right? 😉

But after that first big bad is blasted into oblivion, the stakes get a little... weird, don't you think?

Suddenly there are new, even BIGGER, threats looming. Where were they hiding before?

And Usagi, bless her heart, has to learn the same lessons. Again. And again.

It’s like watching your favorite character get reset every season.

I'm not saying the later seasons are bad! There are cool new characters and transformations.

But sometimes, I whisper to the screen, "Usagi, honey, you’ve already done this. You got this. Maybe take a vacation?"

Maybe it’s my adult brain kicking in. I would love to see Sailor Moon just chill for once.

Like, "Sorry, evil alien overlord, I'm busy binge-watching cat videos."

That’s a superhero I can relate to!

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing Sailor Moon fight for love and justice.

But maybe, just maybe, she deserves a long, peaceful, dessert-filled retirement after that epic first season.

I know this is probably blasphemy to some.

And I know the show is amazing and beloved for a reason. So many great things about Sailor Moon.

But part of me thinks she earned her happy ending early.

Maybe she could have just opened a bakery with Mamoru? Imagine the moon-shaped cakes!

It's just a thought! A silly little thought.

Maybe a tiny unpopular opinion, like a chibi opinion. 😉

So next time you rewatch the series, ask yourself: Could Sailor Moon have retired early? And what would she do?
