My Hero Academia Two Heroes English Dub

Okay, let's talk My Hero Academia: Two Heroes. Specifically, the English dub.
The Dub: It's…Fine. Right?
Everyone loves this movie. It's got young All Might, awesome action, and a cool villain. But the dub? It gets a pass, but does it deserve it?
I'm going to say it. It’s good, sure. But is it amazing? Maybe not.
Must Read
Deku's Voice: A Little…Much?
Justin Briner voices Deku. He does a great job capturing the shy, nervous energy. Sometimes though, the "I'm trying my best!" voice gets cranked up to eleven.
Does anyone else feel like he sounds like he's perpetually on the verge of tears? I'm not saying it's bad, just…intense.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man yelling at clouds shaped like anime characters.
All Might: The Symbol of…America?
Christopher Sabat is a legend. He’s All Might. He's also Vegeta, Piccolo, and basically half of every anime ever made.

He nails the booming, heroic presence. But the overly Americanized lines sometimes feel a bit...off.
"Go beyond! Plus Ultra!"Still gives me chills though.
Is it just me, or does All Might's voice actor's performance sometimes veer into caricature?
Supporting Cast: The Unsung Heroes
The supporting cast shines. Characters like Melissa Shield (Erica Mendez) and David Shield (Ray Chase) are fantastically voiced.
They give the movie some emotional depth. Their performances feel genuine and add so much to the overall experience.

Seriously, they're fantastic. Deserve way more praise!
Unpopular Opinion Time
Here it is: the Two Heroes dub is good, but not great. It's perfectly watchable, enjoyable even.
But it doesn't quite reach the heights of the original Japanese with subtitles. Fight me!
Okay, maybe don't fight me. Just hear me out.

Sub vs. Dub: The Eternal Debate
I know, I know. The sub vs. dub debate is older than time itself. I'm not saying dubs are inherently bad.
Many are excellent! But sometimes, the nuances get lost in translation. It happened to me.
The original Japanese voice acting just has a certain…something. A certain je ne sais quoi, if you will.
The Verdict: Still Worth a Watch
Look, if you prefer dubs, go for it! The Two Heroes dub is perfectly serviceable. You'll still have a great time.

The animation is stunning. The story is engaging. It’s My Hero Academia, after all!
Just don't be surprised if you find yourself wanting to check out the subbed version afterwards. You might discover something new.
And hey, maybe you'll disagree with me completely. That's fine too!
At the end of the day, we all love My Hero Academia. That's what matters.
