My Hero Academia Season 1 Episode 1 Funimation

A Hero's Journey Begins (And It's Hilariously Awkward)
Alright, picture this: a world where superpowers are totally normal. Like, you’re more surprised if someone doesn't have a quirky ability. That's the world My Hero Academia throws us into, right from the get-go in episode one.
And smack-dab in the middle of it all, we meet Izuku Midoriya, aka Deku. Our main man is...well, he's a little on the clumsy side.
The Quirkless Wonder (Or Lack Thereof)
Here's the kicker: Deku is quirkless. In a world obsessed with superpowers, he's basically a regular dude dreaming of being the greatest hero of all time.
Must Read
Talk about a tough break! It's like wanting to be a superstar singer but being tone-deaf. But hey, at least he's got enthusiasm...and a whole lot of nerdy hero worship.
His admiration for All Might, the symbol of peace, is so endearing. He has notebooks overflowing with hero analysis!
Encounter with a Sludge Villain (Ew!)
Then comes the sludge villain. Seriously, who thought a blob of evil goo would make a good baddie? It's kinda gross and definitely hilarious.

Our boy Deku gets caught in the crossfire. And that's when things get really interesting. It's a real eye-opener moment for him.
He has a moment where he thinks of his idol All Might and if All Might was in his situation.
All Might Arrives! (Finally!)
Enter All Might! He shows up just in the nick of time. It's the epic, over-the-top entrance you'd expect from a superhero who’s practically a walking, talking American comic book.
His fight scene is a visual treat, full of powerful punches and a whole lot of yelling. It's wonderfully dramatic and ridiculously fun to watch.

But hold on, there's a secret lurking beneath that heroic smile. And Deku is about to find out everything.
A Shocking Revelation and a Life-Changing Decision
Turns out, All Might isn’t as invincible as he looks. He has some serious secrets and some very serious injuries.
And then...the big moment. All Might offers Deku a chance. The chance to inherit his quirk, One For All!

Talk about a plot twist! Deku, the quirkless fanboy, is suddenly on the path to becoming the next symbol of peace.
It’s the classic underdog story. You find yourself rooting for Deku instantly. Who doesn't love an underdog?
The episode ends with Deku accepting the offer. He is embarking on a crazy training regimen. And he has to learn how to control his new powers.
