My (Possibly Unpopular) Opinion
Okay, brace yourselves. I might catch some flak for this. But here it goes: sometimes, I think the dubs are better than the original.
Gasp! I know, I know. Sacrilege, right? But hear me out! Some of the English voice actors just nail the characters' personalities.
Like, Clifford Chapin as Bakugo? Iconic. He brings that explosive energy to life in a way that's both hilarious and terrifying. Pure perfection.
What's Taking So Long? A Few Wild Guesses
So, what's the holdup? Here's my totally uneducated (but highly entertaining) speculation.
Theory #1: They're secretly working on a live-action version of the movie with Chris Pratt as Deku. Just kidding! (I hope…)
Theory #2: They’re having a Plus Ultra!-off to determine who gets to yell the loudest. May the best voice actor win!
Theory #3: Someone accidentally deleted the entire dub and they're scrambling to re-record everything. Oops!
The Importance of a Good Dub
Look, I appreciate subtitles. I really do. But sometimes, I just want to relax and enjoy the action without constantly reading.
Plus, a good dub can introduce the series to a whole new audience. Some people are intimidated by subtitles, and that's okay!
It's all about accessibility. And, let's be honest, hearing All Might bellow "I AM HERE!" in English is a truly glorious experience.
In the Meantime…
While we're waiting (im)patiently, what's a hero to do?
Rewatch seasons 1-5? Check. Read the manga? Check. Write fanfiction where Deku and Bakugo finally become besties? Also check. (Don't judge me!).
Basically, we're doing everything we can to fill the void until that sweet, sweet dub is finally released. We'll find ways to pass the time!
