And don't forget Twice! He is constantly contradicting himself. It is pretty funny, but maybe it hides something deeper?
What if his "split personality" is actually a struggle between his villainous persona and his heroic one? He is always willing to help, even when he really shouldn't be.
He could be feeding information to the heroes all along! A conflicted informant, playing both sides. It would be so him.
Shigaraki: The Reluctant Leader?
Even Shigaraki himself. Could he be manipulated? Maybe he is a puppet, a pawn in a bigger game played by heroes.
All For One was a master manipulator. Perhaps he planted a seed in Shigaraki's mind. A hidden trigger to switch him to the "good" side eventually.
A long shot, maybe. But not impossible! Think of the dramatic potential!
Why This Could (Maybe, Possibly) Work

Heroes often make sacrifices for the greater good. Going undercover in the League would be the ultimate sacrifice. Spending years surrounded by evil? Yikes!
