Here's where my opinion comes in. I'm ready for the tomatoes. Is it just me, or did the Japanese DVD release feel like it was intentionally teasing the rest of the world?

Seeing all those lucky fans tweeting about watching it in crisp, beautiful Blu-ray while we were stuck refreshing streaming services? It felt a bit like villainous behavior, didn't it? Okay, maybe not villainous, but definitely mischievous!

I mean, come on! Couldn't they have shared the hero-y goodness a little sooner? It’s like Bakugo holding back a powerful explosion just to annoy Deku.

The Wait is Over (Mostly)

Of course, eventually, the movie did become available worldwide. We got our chance to witness the epic battle and cry over the emotional moments.

But the initial wait? The agonizing anticipation? It left a mark. A mark shaped like a limited edition Blu-ray steelbook that we couldn't get our hands on (legally) for months.

That is what I think about it!

Thinking About the Japanese Release...

Let's be real. Japan gets a lot of anime-related things first. They are the homeland.

Still, a little global love wouldn't hurt, right? Maybe next time, a simultaneous worldwide release? We can dream, can't we?

After all, isn't My Hero Academia all about bringing people together and fighting for justice? Spreading the movie joy faster seems like a pretty heroic thing to do.

In the end, we all got to see Heroes Rising. We survived the agonizing wait. We emerged stronger (and maybe slightly more cynical) anime fans.
