Must Watch Episodes Of How I Met Your Mother

Okay, let's be real. How I Met Your Mother is a classic.
But are all the episodes created equal? Absolutely not!
I'm here to give you my totally biased, arguably controversial, list of must-watch episodes.
Must Read
The Obvious (But Still Amazing) Choices
First, let's get the no-brainers out of the way.
"Pilot" (Season 1, Episode 1)
Duh! You gotta start at the beginning. You need to meet Ted Mosby and his gang.
Plus, you see Robin Scherbatsky steal Ted's heart. We are introduced to the yellow umbrella. It all begins here, folks!
"Slap Bet" (Season 2, Episode 9)
Oh, the Slap Bet! Arguably the best running gag of the series.

Marshall Eriksen's escalating slaps on Barney Stinson are pure comedic gold. This episode introduces Robin Sparkles. Legendary!
"How Your Mother Met Me" (Season 9, Episode 16)
Finally! We get the Mother's perspective. Cristin Milioti is amazing.
A full episode dedicated to her journey leading up to meeting Ted. It pulls at all the heartstrings. Have tissues ready.
My (Slightly) More Unconventional Picks
Now for the good stuff! These are the episodes I think are underrated.
"The Pineapple Incident" (Season 1, Episode 10)
Ted wakes up with a pineapple! No one knows how it got there.

The whole episode is a hilarious mystery. It is a perfect example of HIMYM's quirky charm.
"Girls Versus Suits" (Season 5, Episode 12)
Barney has to choose: suits or a girl?
The musical number is surprisingly catchy. Plus, it's a deep dive into Barney's complex character.
"Suit up!" - Barney Stinson
"Last Forever - Part 2" (Season 9, Episode 24)
Okay, controversial, I know! The finale is divisive.

But hear me out! You can't skip it. You need to see how their story ends. (Even if you disagree with it!).
Episodes You Can Probably Skip (Don't @ Me!)
Look, some episodes just don't hit the same.
They are not terrible, but you won't miss much by skipping them. Think of them as background noise.
"Stuff" (Season 2, Episode 16)
Ted's apartment is overflowing with stuff. Lily tries to get him to get rid of it.
A little boring, if you ask me. It doesn't have a lot of lasting impact on the overall story. It is mostly a filler episode.

"The Goat" (Season 8, Episode 1)
Ted wakes up to find a goat in his apartment!
The storyline is a bit ridiculous. It's not the show's finest moment, in my humble opinion. Too much plot armor to move the stories along.
Final Thoughts
This is just my opinion, of course!
Feel free to disagree (politely, please!). And remember, rewatching How I Met Your Mother is always a good idea.
Happy watching, friends! May your future be filled with blue French horns and legendary adventures.
